Crisp Tabla Recital Marked the 26th Webaithak of Pracheen Kala Kendra

Chandigarh Dec. 14, 2020:-The26th edition of webaithaks organized by Kendra on its official YouTube Channel Face book and Twitter Page , featured  a solo recital by the extremely talented Tabla exponent Pt. Subir Adhikary from  Siliguri, West Bengal.

Pt. Subir Adhikary  , a prominent  artist from Siliguri , is an Indian traditional Tabla virtuoso of the Farukhabad Gharana, Gold Medalist(M.Mus) Bhaskar from Pracheen Kala Kendra , A-Grade artist of All India Radio & Doordarshan, and an Indian Council for Cultural Relations empanelled artist. He is the disciple as well as the only son of legendary tabla player, the Late Benu Adhikari. He is a regular participant in major Indian music festivals & conferences.

Beginning with traditional starting point Peshkar, Pran  gradually unfolded alap-like elaboration, crisp kaidas with rhythmic variations, complex parans, gat, rela, tihais — almost all the different idioms of Tabla playing within the frame of the 16-beat cycle of the tala with tricky numerical permutations and combinations. He displayed different shades of Tabla playing with superb clarity. He also presented some traditional and famous bandishes and compositions of his gharana.
