Chandigarh 04th December:- Pharmacovigilance workshop was started with introduction to PvPI and scope of Pharmacovigilance by Prof H.S. Rehan from LHMC, New Delhi. How clinicians can give their precious inputs in developing this program and promoting rational prescribing and under reporting of adverse events in India with ideas of how to meet this challenge in India was explained by Dr. Dinesh Badiyal , from Ludhiana. The strategies for expansion of Pharmacovigilance program of India was discussed thoroughly. Delegates and audience also gave their inputs and asked for difficult areas of Pharmacovigilance.
The vaccine tragedies in India and potential role of Pharmacovigilance of vaccines with AEFI was elucidated by Dr. Sandeep Kaushal. Role of National Coordination Centre in pharmacovigilance program was discussed by Professor Bikash Medhi. He also emphasized on Translational pharmacovigilance as an emerging branch and issues needed to start with it. Dr. Vinu Jose from Biocon ltd. Bangalore, gave a talk on ICH guidelines and regulatory aspect on pharmacovigilance progam of India (PvPI). Prof Bikash Medhi showed various methods of causality assessment, logic and trend involved in assessment. Actual hands on training of Vigiflow data entry and various coding, terminologies, drug information was dealt in depth by Dr. Ajay Prakash.
