Chandigarh Administration Celebrates 69th Independence Day:Adviser Unfurl the National Flag

Chandigarh 16th August:- The Chandigarh Administration today with thrill and glory celebrated the 69th Independence Day in the Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Vijay Dev, IAS was the chief guest on the occasion. Vijay Dev, IAS, unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the various contingents of Police and NCC Cadets participating in the Independence Day Parade.

While addressing the gathering Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Remembered the martyrs and along with the citizens of Chandigarh remembered and paid homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for our present. He expressed his dream of connecting with the citizens to make the citizens realize their dreams and make way for new era of responsive and accountable administration for all. Vijay Dev, IAS gave the commendation certificates to 15 employees of the Chandigarh Administration and general public for rendering outstanding services in the field of Public services, Art and Culture, Social Services and Sports. 28 Police personnel were also conferred Administrator's Police Medal for their distinguished and meritorious services. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students of different schools.

The Chandigarh Police received the overall best turn award in the parade. In Military forces and Police category, the first prize was bagged by Chandigarh Ladies Police where as the IRB, Chandigarh got second position and Chandigarh Police came third. In NCC contingents, Air wing bagged the first position, Naval wing came second and Boys Army wing came third. In the category of Home Guard/Fire Brigade/Civil Defence, Chandigarh Home Guard received the first prize, Chandigarh Civil Defence second and Chandigarh Fire Services got the third position. In another category of Ambulance Brigade Guide and Scouts, and Road Safety St. John Ambulance Brigade of Government Model Senior Secondary School sector 18 got first position, Road Safety got second Position and  Government Model Senior Secondary Boys School got third position for scouts and guides.

In School student's category, Shivalik Public School came first whereas Govt. Sr. Sec School, Sector 38 got second position and Shri. Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School got third position.

Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, Sarvjit Singh, IAS, Finance Secretary, S B Deepak Kumar, IAS Deputy Commissioner, other senior officials of UT Administration, Municipal Corporation and Police along with the residents of the city were present during the function.
