Chandigarh 18th August:- VIJAY KUMAR DEV, Advisor to Administrator, Chandigarh Administration today inaugurated the additional block of the Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management. ANURAG AGGARWAL, IAS, Secretary Tourism, U.T, and Kavita Singh, IAS, Director Tourism, also graced the occasion. The new block is spawned upon an area of 11,306 square feet and comprising of three floors along with basement. It has various classrooms and practical laboratories wherein students can enhance their knowledge and skills and can surge in the field of hospitality. The additional block is added to cater the needs for supplementing the space for classrooms and laboratories arising from increased intake of students due to 27% reservations for OBC candidates. The entire project cost is 991.15 lakhs which was funded by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Vijay Kumar Dev while taking a round inspected the whole building and spoke to the students about the importance of inculcating new technology and adding new infrastructure to the existing one so that the students get updated knowledge with the latest technologies available.
Ms. Bharti Tyagi, the Principal of the Institute said that education is one of the most powerful weapons which one can use to change the world. She also ensured that the new block will be well equipped with all the state of the art facilities such as modern Laboratories, Training Restaurant, Training Kitchens, Laundry, Dining hall, smart classrooms with multi-media facilities in due course of time to ensure that the students attain highest quality of learning and the Institute emerges as the leader in the field of hospitality education.
