Haryana Government Declares September 17 As A Holiday:In View of Municipal Bye-Elections

Chandigarh,11th September:--- The Haryana Government has declared September 17 to be a holiday in view of the Municipal Bye-elections to Ward No. 1 of Municipal Council Jind, Ward No. 8 of Municipal Council Sirsa and Ward No. 13 of Municipal Committee Ellenabad, district Sirsa.

While giving this information here today an official spokesman said that the State Government has notified public holiday on  September 17 for all shops and commercial establishments falling within the jurisdiction  limits of these  wards to provide opportunity to the people to exercise their franchise.

The spokesman added that September 17 would be observed as holiday under sub-section (I) of section 10 of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1958.
