Chandigarh 17th July:-- Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department, has invited nominations for National Youth Awards 2012-13., the award carries Rs 40,000 in cash, a medal and a scroll. In case of voluntary organization, the award carries Rs 2 lakh in cash, a medal and a scroll
While stating this today, a spokesman of the Department said that National Youth Awards were given at national level to not more than 25 outstanding youth who had rendered notable service in social and cultural fields. National Youth Award is also given to an outstanding voluntary organisation which has been involved in social service for the last three years.Under individual category, the award carries Rs 40,000 in cash, a medal and a scroll. In case of voluntary organization, the award carries Rs 2 lakh in cash, a medal and a scroll.
National Youth Awards are given during the National Youth Festival on January 12 every year to mark birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The objectives of these awards are to inspire the youth falling between age group 13 and 35 years to achieve efficiency in the area of national and social service, encourage them to inculcate a feeling of responsibility for their community, enhance their individual ability and give recognition to youth and voluntary organizations for their outstanding works in national development and social service.
He said that all the District Sports and Youth Affairs Officers have been asked to send two proposals for National Youth Awards, one for individual category and another for voluntary organisation from their district. The nominations along with the recommendations of district level committee should reach the Directorate by August 20, 2013 so that these could be forwarded to the Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs by September 10, 2013.
