Chandigarh, Sept.09, 2024:--Plaza Zone registered a splendid 51-run win over Rose Zone in the Men's Under 19 One Day Tournament being played at Launching Pad Cricket Academy on Monday. Plaza Zone while batting first scored 223 runs wherein unbeaten Arjun Azad scored 63 runs while skipper Markanday Panchal contributed 41 runs. From the opposition's side, Rakshit Saini took four wickets while Rajvardhan Bhandari clinched three . In reply, Rose Zone was bundled out for 172 runs fifer from Ankan Latka destroyed the batting side. Skipper Balraj Singh (59) was the top scorer. Vardan Sharma also took three wickets from the bowling end. Meanwhile, in the match against Bird Zone abandoned due to rain at Baba Balak Nath Cricket Academy, a splendid knock from Dhananjay Sharma (89 runs off 59 balls) of Rock Zone went in vain. While batting first, Rock Zone piled up a massive score of 333 runs. Deepender Kush (59) and Rahul Yadav (45) gave good support to Dhananjay. In reply, Bird Zone had scored 15 runs without losing a wicket when rain interrupted and the match was declared abandoned.
Women's T20 series of three state associations also kicked off on Monday at DAV School, Sector 8 as host Chandigarh lost to Bengal by 44 runs. Batting first, the visitors scored 118/4 runs in the stipulated twenty overs.Injured Dhara Gurjar (40) was the top scorer while unbeaten Tanushree Sarkar added 27 . In reply, UTCA team A was restricted to 74/9 runs wherein Aradhana Bisht scored the highest 33 runs. From the opposition, Priyanka Sarkar, Saiqa Isaquc and Meeta Pal took two wickets each. The second match of the day to be played between Baroda and UTCA team B could not be played due to wet ground.
