Ashmah International School Conduct Youth Mock Parliament

Mohali, August 07, 2023:-Ashmah International School, Sector 70 organized a mock parliament for the students in the school campus. It is an exercise meant to create awareness among them about the functioning of the top legislative body in the country.

 

The students actively participated and showed great enthusiasm regarding the working of the Parliament.   They enacted the role of the ruling as well as opposition party MPs besides Ministers and the Speaker. The ministers were also appointed special voting procedures. Among the representatives, only the prime minister was elected by the entire school, who is also the school leader. Starting from oath taking ceremony by the speaker, the session was presented in an effective manner by the students.

The event covered a wide range of items ranging from Oath taking in three languages, Obituary references, Introducing New Ministers, Question Hour, Attention Notice, Legislative procedure and so on.   Various topics were taken for Question Hour like Female infanticide, Enrolment of Women in Higher education, SAGY( Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana) etc.  Electoral Reform was discussed in the Bill of Consideration.  The students dressed like a Parliamentarian and gave their speech confidently. 

 While speaking on this occasion School Principal Suchi Grover said that  Parliament is one of the major pillars of our democratic system. The students as future leaders and citizens must be made aware of the working of the parliament to initiate, develop, cultivate and nurture the ideals of our democratic institutions. She further added that overall the National Youth Parliament was an enriching experience for young minds.
