Chandigarh Dec.11, 2020:- 'RAAHAT', The Welfare Society of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, organized a special webinar on 'Truth about Drugs' in collaboration with 'Foundation for A Drug-Free World, India' on December 10, 2020.
The Vice Principal, Mrs. Prabhjot Kaur welcomed The Guest Speaker of the webinar, the eminent and erudite Entrepreneur, Professor, Trainer, Behaviour and Leadership Coach C. Devidasan. Devidasan is also a volunteer with 'Foundation for A Drug-Free World, India', an organization that aims to help the public, especially youth choose a drug-free life by educating them on the harmful effects of drugs. Their main objective is 'to reach children before the dealers do.' The foundation is operating in 164 countries.
In the seminar, C Devidasan enlightened the students regarding the menace of drugs in our society and its fatal repercussions on an individual. Around one hundred people participated in the webinar including students from various colleges of the city. Many elderly people and also the families affected by this evil took part in the webinar.
The informative session by C Devidasan saw the discussion on the concept of drugs, their various types and adverse effects on the body. The students learned about the importance of fighting not just physical addiction but also mental addiction. They were informed about various ways in which the body reacts under the influence of drugs and how it can be fatal for an individual.
The session also emphasised the significance of goal setting and finding pleasure in achieving small goals in life. C Devidasan also presented an inspiring self-composed poem to the students.
Dr. Aradhna Mehtani concluded the session by thanking C Devadasan for his valuable time and reiterated the need to create awareness regarding the dangers of drugs.
The Principal, Dr Jatinder Kaur, appreciated the efforts of RAAHAT Society as well as 'Foundation for a Drug-Free World, India' in enlightening the youth about this menace and in making the society a drug free place.
