Hisar 12th March:- A live surgery workshop on 'Advanced Laparoscopy in Gynecology' was conducted at Jindal Hospital, Model Town, Hisar today. In workshop, Dr Seema Wadhwa , Sr. Consultant-Gynaecologist & Laparoscopy Specialist from Max Super Specialty Hospital , Mohali gave live demonstration of surgeries. The focus of workshop was to reduce operating time and at the same time refining interpersonal skills with difficult surgeries with newer innovative techniques advanced technology & latest energy sources. As many as 150 Gynaecologists & Surgeons across region took part in the workshop.
Speaking during occasion, Dr. Seema Wadhwa said that one in six women would undergo uterus removal surgery worldwide by the time they were 60-year of age. This would make uterus removal surgery which was also known as Hysterectomy as the most common elective surgery among women.
Dr Seema Wadhwa pointed out that as many medical methods to save uterus were available, the surgery should be avoided. The problems like abnormal uterine bleeding should initially be medically managed. However in case of failure of medical management surgical options, the Laparoscopy surgery should be considered by Gynaecologists. Though there was a minimal role of open surgeries in modern Gynaecology now. The technique of Gynaecological keyhole surgeries has tremendously evolved thanks to the newer innovation & resources available along with highly sophisticated & advanced energy sources."
During workshop, Dr. Seema operated upon patients requiring Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy to relieve their symptoms. It was a hands-on experience for the Gynaecologists present in workshop as the surgery performed was stitch-less, scar-less and painless. Dr Seema asserted that in Laparoscopic surgery, the patient could be discharged within 24 hours & could resume normal day to day activities in 2-day time. No hospitalisation was required. There was no risk of any postoperative complications like hernia & adhesion formation as seen after open surgeries.
