Chandigarh 11th March:- Nursing care of critically ill children in PICUs is a challenging task and requires adequate training to do justice to this enormous responsibility. In this context, the pediatric critical care team at the Advanced Pediatrics Centre, PGI Chandigarh is proud to collaborate with the pediatric critical care team from AIIMS, New Delhi for the second edition of the 'AIIMS-PGI Pediatric Critical Care Nursing Workshop', to be held on 12th and 13th March, 2016 at the Advanced Pediatrics Centre Auditorium, PGI, Chandigarh.
This workshop has been conceived and designed keeping in mind the specific needs and challenges of pediatric critical care nursing so that more and more nursing professionals' are empowered to care effectively for sick children. The first such joint workshop with faculty from both the institutions was organized successfully in Kolkata and was very well received by the local nursing community.
This two-day academic program has 45 nursing professionals from PGI, AIIMS New Delhi and in and around the region. The faculty for the workshop comprises of pediatric critical care physicians and nurses from PGI and AIIMS New Delhi who will come together to train the registered nursing staff. This workshop includes lectures to improve conceptual understanding followed by practical hands-on demonstration at work-stations to enhance their bedside skills. It is anticipated that such workshops will help improve outcomes of critically ill children and reduce under-five childhood mortality in the long-run.
