CII’s Yi adopts cleanliness as its theme for National Volunteering Week

Chandigarh 20th January:- CII's Young Indians (Yi) Chandigarh Tricity Chapter in partnership with India@75 Foundation launched the 2nd Edition of its Annual National Volunteering Week (NVW) to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism here today. Taking a cue from the clarion call given by the Prime Minister of India, the theme adopted for this year's NVW is Cleanliness. Young Indians Chandigarh Tricity Chapter was also nominated by Abhinav Bindra, Olympic Gold Medallist on Twitter for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

To mark the launch, a special ceremony to honour the Cleaning Staff of Tricity Schools & corporates for their selfless contribution to keep the premises clean was held at Ashiana Public School, Chandigarh.  The services of 52 cleaning staff of Ashiana Public School, British School Sec 8, British School Sec 12, The Millennium School, Vivek high School, Valuer HR Solutions, Max Hospital, St Johns School, St Soldiers School, Guru Teg Bahadur School and Stepping Stones School were appreciated.

Jaiprakash Hasrajani, Chairman, Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter and Co-Founder & CEO, Valeur HR mentioned, that this is the second consecutive year during which NVW is being celebrated in Chandigarh. We hope this year also, we will receive immense support, great enthusiasm and spirit to contribute towards our nation from volunteers spanning across school & college students and professionals. Various activities proposed during the week include Recognising Cleaning Personals of Schools and Corporates on 19 January, Wash Your Hands Campaign on 21 January and Cleanliness Drive at Rock Garden on 23 January.

Talking about the initiative, Ms Priya Malik, Chair Marketing and Branding, Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter said that Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter is celebrating National Volunteering Week to promote the idea of volunteering among citizens. The idea of NVW is to provide a platform to citizens to come collectively for common cause to make the country a better place.

Complimenting CII's Yi for the initiative, Ms Lalita Prakash, Director, Ashiana Public School said, that the initiative taken by CII's Yi to fulfil our honourable Prime Minister's dream, which envisions a clean India, is themed aptly. I am sure our future generations will inherit a cleaner and a better environment by undertaking such initiatives. The honouring of Cleaning personnel of their own schools will ignite a spark in the young minds and raise their commitment and dedication to do something for their nation.
