Chandigarh 17th July:--Punjab Governor and Administrative U.T. Chandigarh Shivraj Patil today honoured eminent 10 personalities including Nek Chand, B N Goswamy, DC Bhattacharya, Jodh Singh, Shiv Singh, Malkiat Singh, Balvinder Singh, Satwant Singh, S. Raj Kumar and Nirupama Dutt with Amrita –Sher- Gill samman for their outstanding contribution in the field of Arts. The function was organized by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, Shivraj Patil said that art has its own language and it does not have any boundaries. He said all artists who were honoured today do not belong to Chandigarh, Punjab or India alone but they are the artists of entire world. He said your works have the same value for art lovers in every corner of the world. Wishing Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy the very best for the future, Mr. Patil said that the efforts of Academy should always be encouraged in the interest of generations to come, so that they to draw inspiration to achieve excellence in their professions. He said that Chandigarh Administration would provide all possible help to Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy.
