GMSSS-46 First School In the City With 50 KWp Grid interactive rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant

Chandigarh 23^rd July:-- The 50 KWp Grid interactive rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sec.46-D was inaugurated by K. K Sharma, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh on the occasion of ' Eco Club Day' here today .

A ceremonial function on behalf of Forest & Wildlife department was organized at Govt. Model Sr.Sec. School, Sec.46-D, Chandigarh in which Adviser to Administrator was the Chief Guest. On this occasion, he planted the sapling of  'Dal Chini'

Forests & Wildlife Department is celebrating Van Mahotsav-2013 by involving various Greening agencies like NGOs, Resident Welfare Associations, Eco-Clubs besides Government agencies. As a part of the series, Eco-Club Day is being celebrated on 23^rd July, 2013. On this day all Eco Clubs of Chandigarh shall be celebrating the day in a befitting manner and shall be planting trees/herbs/ shrubs and shall be organizing functions, creating environmental awareness.

 The function was attended by .D.K.Tiwari, IAS, Secretary Environment & Forests, R.P Upadhayaya, IPS, IGP,  Santosh Kumar,IFS,  Conservator of Forests& Dir(S & T),   Kuldeep, DCF, Upkar Singh, DPI (Schools) and other Senior Officers of the Administration . It was also attended by more   than 200 school students, NSS Cadets and representatives from NGOs and Resident Welfare Associations.

On this occasion, K.K. Sharma, IAS  exhorted the students to take active part in plantation in open areas and should make Chandigarh city more clean & green . He informed that the overall objective of celebrating the 'Eco Club Day' is to sensitize  the masses especially school children to generate awareness for protection and conservation of flora & fauna.He lauded the efforts of Science & Technology Department in getting installed grid interactive Solar PV system at various Govt Buildings including this school building.

 With this 50 KWp SPV plant, GMSSD, Sec-46 D has become the first Govt School of Chandigarh having Solar Plant at its rooftop. The SPV Plant is Grid interactive and excess energy generated is being fed to the grid. The Plant has been installed at a total cost of Rs.81.49 Lakhs. The installation of the Plant has been executed through CREST [Chandigarh Renewal Energy, Science & Technology Promotion Society [CREST].  M/s DD Solar Power, 23, India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi is the executing agency.
