One Day NSS Camp on International Women’s Day organised at Government College of Education

NSS Cell of Government College of Education, Chandigarh observed One Day Camp dedicated to International Women's Day on March 9, 2024. NSS PO, Dr Ravneet Chawla introduced the theme. The Principal of the college, Dr Sapna Nanda welcomed the guests. The special guests invited were Ms. Bhawna Garg, IAS, DDG UIDAI, Chandigarh; Ms. Garima Singh, Commissioner Income Tax (Appeals), Chandigarh; Ms. Rachana Singh, IRS, Additional Commissioner, CGST, Panchkula, and also a very special invite, Mrs. Tara Jha, mother of the outstanding NSS Volunteer of the college, Shivam Jha.

Ms. Bhawna Garg made the audience charged on how to make sense out of the concept WOMEN EMPOWERMENT. She shared her journey of mountaineering, dancing, cycling and a unique topper throughout her academics by being positive and perseverant.

Ms. Garima Singh shared her jubilation on her journey as a student and the anecdotes with her teachers that allowed her to optimize her potential. The pupil teachers were inspired to take their forward roles more responsibly.

Ms. Rachana Singh, IRS, an example of fitness, zeal and being an all-rounder shared her simple journey through childhood and her good choices to reshape her challenges into strengths.

Mrs. Tara Jha felt humbled to be appreciated for being an inspiring mother and extended gratitude to the college for the gesture.

The event was marked by the release of a Newsletter – JIJIVISHA – by the home science club of the college which showcased the contribution of various women of the college and remarkable educationists, pan India. Ms. Meghna Duhan, the student editor was applauded by the guests.

Dr. Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer, NSS from the Directorate of Higher Education shared his inspiring words of wisdom of the role of NSS. He appreciated the work of the NSS Units of the college.

The camp had melodious parodies sung by Rahul and Sugandhi, self composed poems by Isha Duggal and Seerat, and dances by Komal, Sonia, Shivanshi, all moderated by the show master Jasmine from B Ed Semester 4.

The post lunch included boys judging the theme power lines by the girls of the college on Women Empowerment. The winners of the show were Naincy Chahal and Diksha for their expressions through disclosures and a song. The judges Shivam Jha, Ravinder Kumar and Saurabh. Dr Ravinder Kumar , Programme Officer extended the vote of thanks for the camp and appreciated the gesture of Punjab National Bank, Sector 20, Chandigarh to support the event represented by Shri Virender Kumar, Manager.
