Chandigarh June 30, 2021:- The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an awareness session on 'Social Entrepreneurship' and a workshop titled 'Atmanirbharta: An Entrepreneurial Journey'. Dr. Arun Bansal, Administrator, Social Substance conducted the session on Social Entrepreneurship, wherein he dwelt upon the basics of social entrepreneurship and discussed the importance of aligning business goals, business model target audience and supply chain of various services with sustainability. He also discussed case studies on some recent social contributions towards a sustainable environment.
The workshop 'Atmanirbharta' was conducted by Ms. Alisha Gupta, Bakecstasy and Ms. Banipreet Kaur, BakeShop by Bani and witnessed participation of over 200 faculty and students. The session was an endeavour to acquaint the participants with the efforts undertaken by an entrepreneur to start a successful venture. Both Ms. Alisha and Ms. Banipreet shared the story of their respective entrepreneurial journeys, emphasising that hard work, skill, risk-taking ability, creativity, connectivity and execution-oriented planning are the essential attributes for an entrepreneur to build a successful startup.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded the efforts of the organisers for organising insightful sessions on a wide range of topics, providing vast exposure to the students that ultimately helps in promoting holistic development of the students.She added that the IIC of the college is working ceaselessly towards promotion of culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the students.
