Chandigarh 25th March:-1982 Batch Punjab Cadre retired IAS officer, former Punjab Information Commissioner Sarwan Singh Channy has announced to donate his 1 month salary Rs. 1 Lakh to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Announcing the donation on Wednesday, he requested other retired officers and common people to come forward for the donation in this hour of difficulty.
In a press statement, Channy said that Covid-19 virus has affected thousands of people in the world and every country is trying hard to win over it. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and state govts are tackling the situation with utmost sincerity. Hailing the decision of Prime Minister to put 3 weeks lockdown in the entire country, he said that the move will stop the community spread and help to tame the decease.
Appreciating the work being done by doctors, police, sanitary workers, journalists and other catagories of society, Channy said that every segment of society must stand by these hard working people who are trying to provide us relief endangering their own lives. He requested that those who are able to arrange the bread and butter for themselves must also come forward to help those who are deprived to such facility. He requested all the Punjabis and fellow Indians to consider the request of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stay indoors and save the lives of their near and dears.
