Punjab Would Train over 1 Lakh Youth in Construction Industry:To Make Them Employment in Gulf Countries

Chandigarh 29th October:- Punjab is all set to meet the foreign craze of its citizens especially in the Doaba and Malwa area by providing them capsule training program with proper certificate/degree that would enable them to seek work visa in Australia, US, Saudi Arabia and other labour deficient countries.  The unique feature of new policy decision is training a youth keeping in view the specific requirement of each country, making the youth employable and working out linkage with foreign companies for ready emigration and work visa formalities in those countries.  The Punjab is worried about mushrooming illegal travel agents that were luring the youth with false promising of work visa and dumping them in un-known countries after fleecing their hard earned money.  The new policy decision would systemize the procedure besides fulfilling the urge of Punjabis to work across the shores. 

Madan Mohan Mittal Technical Education Minister appreciating the innovative ideas said that Punjab since ages has led the nation and skill development would make Punjab leading state of the country. 

The session also sign MoU by Uber to train 50000 female and 50000 male driver that would be trained in driving English speaking and etiquettes and these drivers would be employed in other states as per increasing requirement of radio taxies in other states.  The drivers would be certified and would be eligible to work abroad for heavy duty vehicles especially in USA and Canada.   The Punjab would also train over 1 lakh youth in construction industry that would make them employment in gulf countries especially in the Saudi-Arabia and upcoming multi-billion projects in the state.

While addressing Special Session during the concluding Day of Investors Summit being organized by Punjab Government, President Uber India Amit Jain revealed that out these one lakh drivers to be trained by the company, 50,000 would be Women drivers.

Speaking on the occasion, Madan Mohan Mittal said that Skill development is one of the essential ingredients for India's future economic growth as the country transforms into a diversified and internationally-competitive economy. India has placed Skill development right on top of the national priorities, and has very recently launched the new skill mission. He said that though there have been multiple central and state government initiatives for skill development, however, there is still a lot of scope of improvement. Inviting Private Sector, he said that Private sector with its industry expertise and targeted approach can play a very critical role in shaping the skills agenda of the country by making it more aligned towards the industry requirements.  He said that Punjab stands 3rd in India with respect to the Education Development Index (EDI) by the United Nations and has an established base with a ready pool of technically skilled talent. Madan Mohan Mittal said that these include 111 engineering colleges, 137 polytechnics and 371 ITI's which insure that the industry demand for talent in the state is met. 34 Centers of Excellence, under the ITI scheme, established in different sectors of technology.

Prominent amongst others who were spoke on the occasion included Founder Teamlease Manish Sabharwal, President Centurion University Orissa Dr. Mukti Khanna Mishra, CEO and Director Centrum Learning Ltd. SanjeevDugal, MD Class India Srinivas Kamisetty and CEOI Automotive Skill Development Council Sunil K Chaturvedi.
