Chandigarh 12th September:- To control the menace of drugs in Chandigarh, Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police launched a special drive and succeeded in apprehending three Nigeria National accused namely Dennis Azuka Okoye, Ekpelechukwu Johan and Jackson Uzova while they were in possession of 120 gms Heroin without any license or permit.
While giving more detail about the arrest of the Nigerian drug peddler Crime Branch Inspector Gurmukh Singh and Inspector Ram Rattan said that last week, one local drug pedlar namely Harjit Singh @ Lucky Saini r/o Chandigarh was arrested and recovered 25 gms Heroin from his possession. During interrogation, he disclosed some valuable inputs regarding drug suppliers who are regularly supplying the drugs to the local drug pedlars for further selling to the addicts. On the basis of this inputs the Crime Branch made different teams for surprise checking to apprehend these drug suppliers.
On 09.09.2015, a team of Crime Branch was on patrolling duty near Shiv Sani Mandir, Road between Sector 31/B & Industrial Area Phase-II, Chandigarh and during checking, team noticed that one Nigerian came from Tribune side and on seeing the police party, the said person tried to escape but with prompt action, the team members apprehended one Dennis Azuka Okoye r/o New Delhi and recovered 50 gms Heroin from his possession. On enquiry, he could not produce any passport and Visa for staying in India. Subsequently, case FIR No. 278 dated 09.09.2015 u/s 21 NDPS Act & 14 Foreigner Act, PS-31, Chandigarh was registered against him. He was produced in the Hon'ble Court on 10.09.2015 and obtained two days police remand i.e. upto 12.09.2015.
Inspector Gurmukh Singh said that on 11.09.2015, a team of Crime Branch was on patrolling and checking duty near Fire Station, Sector-17, Chandigarh. During checking, team noticed that one Nigerian came from the side of ISBT, Sector-17, Chandigarh and on seeing the police party, the said person tried to escape but with prompt action, the team members apprehended one Ekpelechukwu Johan r/o New Delhi and recovered 35 gms Heroin from his possession. Subsequently, case FIR No. 359 dated 11.09.2015 u/s 21 NDPS Act, PS-17, Chandigarh was registered against him. On the same day, another team of Crime Branch, was on patrolling and checking duty near 66 KV, Power Station, Industrial Area, Phase-1, Chandigarh. During checking the team noticed that one Nigerian came from the side of Poultry Farm Chowk and on seeing the police party, the said person tried to escape but with prompt action, the team members apprehended one Jackson Uzova r/o New Delhi and recovered 35 gms Heroin from his possession. On inquiry, he also could not produce any passport and Visa for staying in India. Subsequently, case FIR No. 280 dated 11.09.2015 u/s 21 NDPS Act, PS-Industrial Area, Chandigarh was registered against him.
All the three accused are being produced before the Court today. The investigation of the cases is in progress.
