NIIFT Students Unveil ‘SUVYAN 2014’:A Creative Piece and Design Collections

Chandigarh 30th May:-- 'SUVYAN 2014', a creative piece and an annual design collections show by graduating students of Textile Design Department at Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT), Mohali was unveiled at Hotel Shivlik View here today. The final presentation was an integration of the learning that the students imbibed during their rigorous 3-yr education at NIIFT. Through this exhibition of  colors, materials, finishes and techniques, students expressed individual statements as design solution for fabrics, home furnishing products and stoles etc. In all 'SUVYAN 2014' showcased 33 collections. Each student worked with an industrial client for a nearby period of 5 months which resulted in development of their individual collections and exhibition of design work.

 

The Chief Guest, Raminder, IAS, Director General, NIIFT & Secretary cum Director, Department of Industries and Commerce, Punjab inaugurated the exhibition and said that the work of textile design students was par excellence and the textile students have a wide scope in the market. He appreciated their hard work and effort.

 

Ms. Shweta Sharma, Course Co-ordinator, Textile Design Department, NIIFT said that keeping up its commitment for nurturing and promoting new talent in the Indian Textile Industry 'SUVYAN 2014' was a platform for our students to reveal their best creations. Each design presented was inimitable and  reflected student's reverence for art, culture and nature, she asserted

 

Mr. Vishav Bandhu, Director, NIIFT, Mohali said that Suvyan played an important role for our students to uncover their best creations. The collections were very creative, original and visually pleasing.

 

An eminent jury made up of Textile designers, Industry experts and Art proponent were invited to evaluate the collection for the awards. The jury included Sunil Arora, CEO, M/s Blue Moon, Ludhiana, and Sanjay Kulshreshat, Assistant VP, Nahar Fabrics, Lalru and Ravi Sharan, Design Analyst.
