Chandigarh, 04th September: ---The Department of Paediatrics, PGIMER, is organizing "BIOINFOGEN-2013" –A National Conference cum Workshop on Bioinformatic Tools for Genetic Diagnosis and Research from 6thto 8th September 2013, in APC Auditorium, Advanced Paediatric Centre. The choice of "Bioinformatics Tools in Genetics" as the topic of this conference reflects the new importance of Bio-medical Informatics in Human Genetics. The conference will be inaugurated by Dr V.M Katoch Director General ICMR
It is an event which will bring together the clinical and research fraternity from all over the country to update their knowledge on the use of various Bioinformatic Tools used in Genetic Research and Diagnosis which have become the backbone of medical research as well as diagnosis.Clinical geneticists or scientists, who are not themselves bioinformaticians, stand to gain from this conference cum workshop with topics that are likely to represent fruitful areas of research and diagnosis in genetics.
The Pre- Conference Session on 6th Sept.2013 will comprise of hands on workshops to provide a practical overview to the targeted audience on BIOINFORMATICS RESOURCES FOR DATA MINING and ANALYSIS. The Scientific Programme of the Main Conference has eight sessions spread over two days; 7th & 8th Sept.2013,which will cover the advanced high throughput technologies available for research & diagnosis and also the use of latest bioinformatic softwares and databases used for their interpretation. Each topic will be covered, through a presentation, by a learned speaker, using personal experience. This will be followed by expert inputs from the chair persons.The esteemed speakers are from all over the country and are experts in their field. The delegates too have registered from far and near The Keynote lecture is on "Genetic Diagnosis and Research in the Post Genome Era" by Dr Shyam S Agarwal, Lucknow
