Chandigarh August 25, 2021:- With the new slogan 'Sadha Haq Ithe Rakh', the people of other backward castes (OBC) are gearing up to fight for their rights in Haryana. The social movement, which originated from the NEET OBC reservation struggle at the Central level, has now proceeded one step ahead in Haryana.
While holding a press conference at the press club, Chandigarh, on Wednesday, the people associated with the backward classes of Haryana said that they are demanding a caste census to be conducted in the national 2021 Census. Besides this, they want representation of backward classes from panchayat level to parliament in the proportion of their population, implementation of judgement of Supreme Court decision on creamy layer issue and 27% reservation of backward classes in Group A and Group B services.
While briefing at the conference, Yogendra Yogi, a member of the OBC delegation said that the OBCs are also worried about the provisions of the recently passed 105th Constitutional Amendment Act. OBC should get representation in proportion of their population in jobs and associated spheres of public life. To accentuate this fight for the rights of OBC, we are organizing an OBC Mahapanchayat at Meham on 29th August, and many OBC scholars, retired judges, and retired officers will address the gathering.
Other delegates, including Teluram Jangra, Ashok Verma, Rajendra Tanwar, Kuldeep KD, Lokiram Prajapati, Sanjay Saini, Surendra Panchal, Shamsher Kashyap, Ramkumar Gurjar were also presented at the press meet.
They informed that the fight for the rights of OBC will be continued till every OBC of India get its deserved rights.
At the Meham event, dignitaries like V. Eshwaraiah (former Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh), Virendra Yadav (retired Judge of Allahabad High Court), and Dr. Suraj Yadav (Professor, Delhi University) will address the people. They believe that Mahapanchayat will be historic for the fights of rights of the backward classes because OBC population in Haryana is nearly about 44% and 77 castes in this segment of society are still fighting for their due representation", Yogendra Yogi said, adding that they are thankful to honourable supreme court for its judgement on 24 August, 2021 regarding creamy layer issue and now Haryana cabinet should apply this decision as soon as possible for the welfare of backward classes.
