MCM Holds Webinar on The Process of Writing and Publishing Quality Research

Chandigarh, August 02, 2021- Keeping in mind the significance of quality research for expanding human knowledge base, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a webinar on 'Process of Writing and Publishing Quality Research Papers in Indexed Journals'.

Dr. Neeraj Kumar Singh, Deputy Librarian, AC Joshi Library, Panjab University was the resource person for this highly informative webinar which sought to enlighten faculty, research scholars and students about various aspects of quality research. Over 310 people viewed the webinar and benefitted from the expertise of the expert who has published 12 papers in Scopus indexed journals. Covering comprehensively the various aspects of writing a quality research paper, Dr. Neeraj impressed upon the need to develop an understanding of the reviewer's perspective by trying to comprehend the criteria reviewers apply for selecting research papers.

With publish or perish as the guiding principle, Dr. Neeraj dwelt upon the nuances of writing good quality research papers including selecting the title of the paper, tools for literature search, writing the abstract, introduction and literature review, research methodology, presentation of data for maximum impact and data visualization tools. He also shed light on sources for finding peer reviewed indexed journals for publication of one's research. The participants were also apprised about various metrics for assessing a journals' performance like Journal Impact Factor and H-5 Index, as well as author level metrics like H-Index and Altmetrics. The webinar was well received by the participants.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava, who is also a reviewer of an Elsevier journal, lauded this endeavour for decoding the crucial process of writing and publishing good quality research, for the benefit of various stakeholders in the academic world. She stressed that besides aiding in academic and career progression, good quality research is imperative for informed policy making and social welfare.
