Chandigarh 05th October:- Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, in order to take advantage of festive seasons advised to organize Customer Outreach Initiative to provide access to credit interalia including for Retail, Agriculture, Vehicle, Home, MSME, Education and Personal Consumer Loan. A Customer Outreach Initiative was organized by Lead Bank Office, Punjab National Bank, Chandigarh on 05.10.2019 at Jat Bahawan, Sector 27, Chandigarh. The programme was inaugurated by J P S Bindra, Chief General Manager, NABARD, SIDBI and was attended by the Zonal Head/Regional Heads of all Public Sector Banks, HFCs and NBFCs. Surender Rana, General Manger, SBI and Dilip Kumar Jain, Zonal Manager-GM was also present.
J P S Bindra, CGM, NABARD in his address informed that there is no problem of liquidity with Banks but in the absence of awareness of difference products of Banks, they are unable to take advances of these schemes. The Govt. of India has taken a good initiative by organizing such programmes. One can go to the bank of his choice and enquire about the scheme as per his needs. After that S K Bajaj, Circle Head, Punjab national Bank apprised about the very purpose of today's programme.
Whereas In his address Dilip kumar, Zonal manger Punjab National Bank said that here all banks have come under one roof and the customer has a choice to go to the bank according to his requirements. He further informed about the 59 minutes portal launched by Govt. of India which is proving very useful both for the banks and the customers. He further informed that since the rate of interest on advances has been linked with Repo rate in which the customers are the biggest beneficiaries.
All Public Sector Banks i.e Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharastra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, OBC, Punjab & Sind Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, UCO Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, NABARD, UIDAI, SIDBI and NBFCs/HFCs participated in this Initiative vigorously by putting their stalls alongwith publicity materials of different loan products.
As this is two days programme, the banks will also be there on 6th October 2019. On the spot sanction of loans was given to various customers and banks also make the customers aware about various products of their banks. Around 40 customers were distributed sanction letters by J P S Bindra, CGM, NABARD and chief guest of today meeting. Around 1000 persons attended the event today and it is hoped that on 6th of October 2019, 1500 persons are expected to attend the event. During the 1st day of initiative 589 loans amounting to Rs. 15376 lakhs were sanctioned.
