Chandigarh 20th February:- Maharishi Dayanand Public School organized a Poster Making Competition on National Energy Conservation in collaboration with Chandigarh Renewal Energy, Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST), Chandigarh. Maximum students participated in the competition. This competition was divided into two categories i.e., junior and senior. Through the posters students told that five principles of renewable sources of energy are the sun, the wind, flowing water, biomass and heat from within the earth. Solar energy comes directly from the sun. The sun is a constant natural source of heat and light. Its radiation can be converted into electricity. Wind turbines produce electricity. Hydro-turbines use water power to generate hydroelectricity. Biomass is used to make heat, electricity and liquid fuels.
In junior category Kumkum, Vimal and Jagdeep bagged first, second and third prize while Shakti, Rohit and Suraj in senior category got first, second and third position respectively.
Principal Dr. Vinod Kumar gave away prizes to the winners. He said that the main aim of this competition was to create awareness of importance of science and its uses in daily life.
