By 121 News

Chandigarh 09th January:-   Indian Dietetics Day is celebrated throughout India since the year 2014 on 10th January every year. On this occasion the Department of Dietetics, PGI, organized a workshop on 9th January 2016 for workers emphasizing on this year's theme of making food safe to eat which coincides with this year's WHO theme on Food Safety. No matter how nutritious the food item is; it will be of no use and rather harmful and fatal for the consumer if it is prepared and served unhygienically so food handlers play a most important part in delivery of healthy and safe food to the patients as well as general public.

Keeping this theme in mind, lectures were delivered to all food handlers from different eating establishments within PGI, by the experts in the field of microbiology, nutrition and hand hygiene. Quiz contest was also held to analyze the knowledge of food handlers towards safe food practices. Prizes were distributed to dietetics students for presenting best food safety models and power point presentations.
