Chandigarh 06th January:- Enthusiasm and sentiments ran high among masses when the 'Padyatra' of Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) headed by its President, Amarpreet Singh Lally moved from Balachaur for Ropar today. Lally was accorded a grand welcome by party activists and local populace including women who shouted slogans hailing him. It is to be noted that the five-day long Padyatra which had started from Khatkarkalan is all set to cover 115 kilometers. This is aimed at pushing the demand for naming Chandigarh international airport after legendary freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh. To spread the awareness on the issue an open truck is travelling along with the caravan. Besides plays and dances based on the life of Bhagat Singh are being performed in the truck.
Talking about the overwhelming response for 'Padyatra', Amarpreet Singh Lally said that he felt immensely happy to know that Shaheed Bhagat Singh is alive in the hearts of people. Localities extended their wishes and gave blessings when they got acquainted with the motive of our campaign. It was a spectacular show when our caravan crossed the market of Balachaur. Many shop keepers came to us in our support and offered sweets too. Many volunteers have joined the foot march and our movement is gaining ground on social media. After following our posts on facebook, two young girls Simran Gill and Rajnish Kaur Saini reached to join 'Padyatra'. Besides, people from various places in India and abroad are connecting to us on 'whatsapp". Senior leader of Congress and MLA, Kapurthala Rana Gurjeet Singh also addressed the gathering on the Main road.
Prominent persons in today's Padyatra included Lok Sabha, President, Ananadpur Sahib, Brinder Singh Dhillon, Lok Sabha In-charge, Kanwar Fateh Bajwa, Vice- President, PYC, Khushbaz Jattana, General Secretaries of PYC included Dalveer Singh Goldy, Sonu Bhatia, Rajinder Moond, Lok Sabha, Presidents included Patiala Jimmy Dhaliwal, FategarhSahib Avjinder Kala, Jalandhar, Ashivin Bhalla, Lok Sabha Vice President, Khadoor Sahib, Malkeet Singh Mallu, Ludhiana ,Sunny Kainth, Vidhan Sabha, President, Jalalabad, Ruby, Tarantaran, Onkar Singh, Amloh, Happy, Amargarh, Jagmail, Vidhansabha President, Balachaur Ashok Chechi, Secretaries of PYC included Deepinder Randhawa, Bunny Khaira, Poonam Kangra and Gurmukh Chahal. The Padyatra will have a stopover in Ropar today.
