Chandigarh 29th September:- Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri in association with Traffic Police, Mohali organized a camp for creating awareness amongst the students regarding traffic rules. The team of the Traffic Police was headed by Shavinderjit Singh Bains, SP Traffic & Security, Mohali. A number of Sarpanches and Panches of nearby villages were also invited for creating awareness among the youth of their respective villages. The police team highlighted the importance of various rules like wearing helmet and seat belts, not over jumping the traffic signals of, red light & yellow light, stopping before the zebra crossing, not using mobile phones while driving, not to indulge in triple riding on two wheelers etc. The team requested the parents not to hand over bikes or cars to their wards not possessing proper driving licenses & to ensure that all the necessary papers are available in the vehicle while driving.
Dr. G D Bansal Director General CGC expressed deep concern over a large number of deaths due to road accidents and said that these accidents can be minimized by a strict compliance of traffic rules. He appealed to the students to wear ISI, marked helmets not around their arms but on their heads.
