Chandigarh 06th May:- Dial 108 ambulance service which has been started by Govt of Punjab under PPP model has been proved life saver for common man. On 3rd April 2011, four years back - present Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal launched 90 (Ninety) 108 ERS ambulance service in eight border districts which succeeded with launching of 240 ambulances across the state. Since Nov 2011, all 240 ambulances have been providing services 24X7. In the short span of last 4 years, 10.51 lacs people used 108 ambulance services which proves the worth and need of this emergency services in the state.
For the completion of successful 4 Years in the state, company celebrated and organized Reward & Recognition Function to its Driver, EMTs Support Staff for their sincere contribution to make the services so worthy for the common man and served 10.51 Lacs people, on 6th May 2015 at PHSC, Mohali. On this occasion, Surjit Kumar Jyani, Health Minister also appeared as Guest of Honour to motivate the ambulance crew and 108 Staff, for their sincere efforts for saving the life of the people.
Surjit Kumar Jyani appreciated the 108 services at large and applauded the efforts of 108 staff. Apart from Health Minister Apart from Health Minister Hussan Lal, Managing Director, Punjab Health System Corporation, also rewarded 108 Ambulance Team for their dedicated efforts to serve people day and night.
Jitendra Sharma, Project Head, 108 ambulance and regional head of Ziqitza Health Care Ltd. which is the service providing company in the state briefed that all 240 ambulances are well connected with 108 ambulance control room at Amritsar through GPS device installed in all ambulances. Agents present in control room attend call coming at 108 and arrange to provide nearest ambulance to patient. These ambulances are equipped with medical instruments and medicines required for basic life support ambulances and are being used by trained paramedical staff during transporting patient. This makes the patient's transportation safer than by any private vehicle.
Jitendra Sharma said that most of cases attended by 108 ambulances are for pregnant women for dropping them at Govt hospitals and taken them back to home post delivery with new born baby under Janani Shishu Suraksha Kariyakarm. Out of total 10.51 lacs patients, 3.13 lacs pregnant women have used 108 ambulance service and 2.44 lacs women used this service after expecting baby to reach back home. 1390 pregnant women have delivered baby during transportation before reaching at hospital by trained paramedical staff under online guidance and instructions of doctors present in control room. Patients and their relatives have named 108 ambulances as God and paid thanks to ambulance staff. Apart from this 1.02 lacs people have called 108 and used ambulances to save their own and others lives in road and trauma accidents. Out of total 10 lacs 98% people were taken to Govt hospitals for their treatment. It has been seen that due to prompt and reliable services of 108 ambulances,
On this occasion Naresh Jain Director ZHL and Ravi Krishna Director ZHL has thanked to all delegates for their support and guidance of Govt. officers of health department to make the project so successful. There is an huge increase in institutional deliveries in Govt. hospitals which result into decrease in IMR & MMR.
Steve Murphy, President of The World's largest ambulance company " Global Medical response" ( GMR) and "American Medical Response" ( AMR) from United States had also participated in the function as special guest and appreciate the use of GPS Technology and working of 108 ambulance services in Punjab. Duty in festival, providing services in unfavorable circumstances like in mob situations, or in bad weathers and terrible cold, in heavy rain of Ludhiana and flood in Tarn Taran, ambulance has delivered their unfailing and promised services.
Ravi Krishna Director ZHL, also said that in last 4 years, for the awareness of 108 ambulance service among masses, Mr Chetan Sharma leading Operation team has organized and delivered more than 15000 live demonstrations and 1.5 lacs persons were education in first responder program which booked company name in Limka Book Record.
