Chandigarh 07th May:- 200 feet wide road from S.A.S. Nagar to Zirakpur-Ambala highway costing to Rs. 800 crore for its completion will act as a Chandigarh bypass. Disclosing this, Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that during the first phase the road from S.A.S. Nagar to Zirakpur-Ambala highway stands completed. Also 2 bridges are also being constructed which are falling within the line of this road. Out of these two bridges the one falling near sector 82 has been completed, whereas the other one falling near industrial area phase 8 is in progress.
Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that the completion of this road will give respite to the people of Zirakpur from traffic problems as well as minimizing road accidents. He also informed that a 200 feet wide road being constructed from S.A.S. Nagar to international airport is near to its completion, for which the remaining work will be got completed very soon. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that the 200 feet wide road connecting Kharar- Chandigarh to Zirakpur Ambala Highway stands completed. He said that with the completion of this road, the commuters won't have to pass through Chandigarh to go to Mohali, and other areas in the state and it will lessen the traffic problem also on the roads of Zirakpur and Chandigarh. This will save the time & money of commuters. Tejinder Pal Singh sidhu said that it is the first road in the state which is being laid out to the dimension of 200 feet wide and it has been implemented as a dream project by the state government. He said that service roads have also been constructed along with main 200 feet wide road. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that, earlier, the commuters have to travel more distance for passing through Chandigarh to go to Mohali and Kharar, but now they have to travel less distance which in turn saves time. He further explained that the construction work of this road has been carried out in 4 stages under GMADA's supervision. He said that this 200 feet wide road from Mohali to Kharar and Zirakpur Patiala Road near village Chatt and from Chatt to Dera bassi Ambala road has been completed. He said that this 200 feet wide road will be connected from Chandigarh-Ambala road to peer muchhalla (uptill panchkula border).
