Chandigarh 24th April:- To improve the working of the hospitals, various important and vital decisions have been taken. This has been disclosed by Sd. Barjinder Singh Brar, Chairman, after chairing the 36th Board meeting of the Punjab Health Systems Corporation. He further informed that the Board has decided to get printed OPD cards and Envelops for X-rays and medicines. The Board has also observed that for envelops of the medicines Haryana model should be studied where the medicines are being given to the patients with instructions. The chairman further added that during the meeting various projects being undertaken by the PHSC were reviewed. The SMOs of the hospitals will be asked to maintain a daily log-book recording its daily report regard to the round taken in various wings of the hospitals pointing out deficiencies found and endevaour made to rectify the same. This will bring the responsiveness of the hospital incharge towards upkeep of the hospitals. He also added that a proposal has been agreed in principle to display the name and contact details of all the contractors providing various services like; sanitation, security, canteen, cycle stand etc. This will improve the services to the public and public can lodge a complaint against such contractor with the concerned hospitals or with 104 toll free helpline. He further informed that in the coming months more emphasis will be given in the sampling and random re-sampling of the drugs and it's testing from renowned laboratories to ensure better quality of the medicines. He added that State Government has already in the past decided to focus on 100 hospitals, which include all 22 District Hospitals, 44 Sub Divisional Hospitals and 34 strategically located Communication Health Centres in the State. The Board has decided to conduct the special study of some hospitals to bring the quantum increase in their performance.
