Chandigarh 17th September:- The Women Empowerment Committee of Municipal Corporation has decided today that workshops regarding healthcare, violence and other problems facing by women will be organized in all parts of city and it will be started from Municipal Corporation employees by organizing a workshop in the MC office next week and they will be invited for sharing their experiences in their working area. A similar workshop will be organized in Maloya in next month. This decision was taken during the meeting of Women Empowerment Committee which was held under the Chairpersonship of Mrs. Harjinder Kaur and attended by other members of committee including Dr. Shagufta Parveen, Smt. Asha Jaiswal, Smt. Sheela Devi, Smt. Poonam Sharma, Smt. Rajinder Kaur Rattu and concerned officers of Municipal Corporation.
The committee members has also decided to take up the issue regarding reservation of some vacancies in the residential homes (women hostels) for the orphan children in the city with the Social Welfare Department, UT, Chandigarh and NGOs working in this field. The committee also decided that an exhibition for women entrepreneurs will be organized from October 13 to 16, 2014 to display their art work etc. The committee also decided to visit Mahila Bhawan during this weekend.
