Chandigarh 30th June:- The Central Bureau of Investigation has caught red handedly the General Manager Chander of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL),of Karnal (Haryana) for demanding & accepting an alleged bribe of Rs.2 Lakh from the Complainant. The accused will be produced today in the Designated Court at Panchkula.

A case was registered under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against Chander on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs. Three Lakhs from the Complainant, who was serving as a JTO in BSNL at Karnal, for showing favor to him in a departmental enquiry being conducted against him.

 According to CBI release, the CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.Two Lakhs from the Complainant. Searches were carried out at the official residence of the accused at Karnal and at his house in New Delhi. A cash to the tune of Rs.6.50 Lakhs(Approx), gold/jewellery and documents related to property & other investments were recovered.
