PGI Organise National Workshop on Operational Research

Chandigarh 26th May: -- School of Public Health, PGI, Chandigarh organized a National Workshop on Operational Research: Writing a research paper from 26 to 31st May 2014. This workshop shall be attended by participants from across the country. This six days workshop will enable the participants to identify research question, effectively write the methods and results and make relevant interpretations in tobacco control research. This course will thus empower researchers in skills of scientific writing and develop confidence to write further scientific papers.

Dr. Arun K. Aggarwal (Chairperson) and Dr. Sonu Goel (Organising Secretary) told that there is lot of secondary data available with us which can provide answers to many policy related issues, however, the scientific fraternity lack capacity to write research paper from existing secondary data. During the workshop, a data set of Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) shall be provided to the participants. They will identify relevant policy oriented research question from the data set and draft a research paper during the workshop. The workshop shall provide hands on training to participants on how to write a research paper. The key facilitators of the workshop are Dr Rana. J. Singh, Senior Technical Advisor, The UNION; Dr Ajay MV Kumar, Technical Advisor (OR Course), The UNION; Mr Pranay Lal and Mr Ravinder Kumar,  The UNION; Mr Vishal Dogra, Save the Children; Dr Arun Aggarwal and Dr. Sonu Goel from PGIMER, Chandigarh. This is the first such course in PGIMER Chandigarh and perhaps in this region of country. Dr Ajay MV Kumar and Dr. Sonu Goel has been facilitator of South Asia OR Course organised for international participants. The course is supported by Indian Council of Medical Research, Medical Council of India and International UNION against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases.
