THE BRITISH SCHOOL,STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN ENERGY CONSERVATION WORKSHOP

Chandigarh 24th January:-- On the need for conservation of sources of energy, a workshop was organised by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation .Ltd (HPCL) for young students of The British School, Chandigarh in the school's campus. Giving a helping hand to this National noble cause as many as 100 students of the school displayed their creative skills by participating in a Drawing & Painting competition which was themed on conservation and environment protection. The aim of the workshop was to create mass awareness, mainly among the future citizens of the country – school students, for conservation of Oil and Gas and protection of the environment. This annual Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight celebration for the current year -2014 is being celebrated from 16 Jan to 31 Jan 2014 by State Level Coordinator, U.T. Chandigarh.

According to Ms. Mona Shri Sethi, Principal, The British school, Chandigarh, said that all the teachers of the school participated in the slogan Writing contest. The enthusiasm & zeal of the participants was worth seeing.

Krishan Kumar Handa, Senior Regional Manager of HPCL,said that in this drive to educate people in conservation of petroleum and gas the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Oil PSU companies, has been organizing Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnights(OGCF) since 1991 throughout the country. Today the programme was organised for students of The British School, Chandigarh.
Subsequently, an LPG Conservation Clinic was conducted by HPCL where safe practices for use of LPG equipment and various techniques for saving LPG were explained. This was followed by verbal and written Quiz Contest. Prizes were awarded to the winners of Quiz contest. Oil & Gas Conservation pledge was taken and endorsed by more than 100 participants that comprised school teachers, house wives and working women. A movie pertaining to various ways of conserving LPG was also exhibited, which too was well appreciated by the participants.
