Chandigarh 16th January: -- Accepting that the most valuable asset any organization is its human resources or people, Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth, Director of JIMS, New Delhi, said, that it is critical that they should be understood and managed accordingly. Right people are difficult to find, difficult to retain and difficult to manage. However if managed properly they can produce exceptional, synergistic output for the organization. Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth was speaking during a one- day workshop on "Managing People Successfully" organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany, under its Cooperation Project at PHD House, today.
Dalip Sharma, Regional Director, PHD Chamber, while emphasising on the need for good management, said, that the world of work is changing - outsourcing, mobility, talent shortages, globalization and shifting demographics are some of the trends currently sweeping today's workplace. Over the next decade these trends will only accelerate and spur managers to engage and win employees through creating an environment characterized by openness, trust, teamwork and collaboration.
Diversity being a key feature of the modern, global workplace, C M Krishna, Honorary Advisor, PHD Chamber, Fellow & Advisor, World Academy of Productivity Sciences, Former President (Personnel) Crompton Greaves Ltd. and Director (P&A) Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, said, that team leaders and managers in the 21st Century need to know how to manage teams of different genders, cultures and generations. They need to understand employee's altitudes, values and characteristics and create the right work environment and see what works best so that they can excel at managing the emerging generations.
