PHD CHAMBER ORGANISES TRAINING ON ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Chandigarh 11th December:- PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry in association with Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), Chandigarh organized a two day Training on Energy Management System ISO 50001.

The two-day course aimed at providing a general overview of the concepts, requirements and benefits of using an energy management system based on the ISO 50001 standard. The main objectives of the event were to build awareness and understand best practice energy management, Reduce energy costs and improve energy performance, Meet energy performance targets and legal requirements with confidence, Appreciate ISO 50001 as international best practice for energy management, and Recognize that ISO 50001 can be integrated with other management systems to save resources.

Experienced certified instructor, Narender Sharma, Branch Manager, British Standards Institute, BSI Group  discussed the requirements outlined in ISO 50001 and explained how developing and systematically managing policies and procedures can improve energy efficiency, help to achieve targets, and reduce energy costs. The course highlighted the value of integrating ISO 50001 with other management systems, such as ISO 14001 besides describing the requirements of ISO 50001. 

 Showing concern that we are daily using lots of fossil fuel and other carbon compounds, that are polluting our environment initiating global warming, environmental imbalance, ozone layer depletion and which in turn is a big threat to the future human race, Dalip Sharma, Regional Director, PHD Chamber, said, It is high time we understand the limitations of our environment and adapt power saving alternatives as a matter of habit.

Solar energy is a clean and a green energy, harnessing it will not pollute the environment. Hence, adopting Energy efficiency measures at different levels, he said, is very essential. Stressing that solar energy tends to be the most efficient solution, Balour Singh, Director of Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) suggested Rooftops, parking lots can be fitted with solar panels to meet the need for

Balkar Singh, Senior Manager, PEDA added, "With solar power homes, you will save money every month on your electric bill. You can cut your bill by up to 80%. So, saving money is one of the biggest reasons why solar power is being used today more than ever. Everyone needs to save money these days with the economy being the way it is."
