CII’s Yi Green-I Contest to award Rs 7.5 lakh grant to students

 Chandigarh, 29th August:---- Young Indians (Yi) an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing the seventh edition of its Green-I contest to create awareness and encourage students to think about conservation and sustainability measures that can be incorporated for a better tomorrow.

Sharing the details of the CII's Yi Green–I contest, Ms Gursimran Kaur, Chairperson- Environment, CII Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter and COO, Taaleem India said, that the topic for this year's contest is Green cities are gateways to a sustainable future. As students are the future leaders in their own community, they have the power to transform the city into sustainable and wonderful community. This year's Green-I contest wants the students to visualize as to how would their home or city look in 2030 and efforts that need to be taken to make it the most sustainable city in India by 2030. she added that the winning school will get a grant of Rs. 7.5 lakh towards implementation of their green ideas. The implementation of the project by the winning school shall be guided and monitored by a Yi representative.   

Ms Gursimran Kaur added, that the Schooling is the formative phase in one's life and our idea is to reach out to as many school children as possible. This year the plan is to reach out to over 2000 schools and 26 cities through the Yi local chapters. It will be the largest such contest in India in terms of outreach and students impacted through a single environmental initiative. "
