Chandigarh,30th June:– Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the state government has adopted 25 those villages of Uttrakhand that were adversely affected by the heavy rain and land slide recently and the State government would reconstruct these villages so that their resident could be rehabilitated.
The Chief Minister was interacting with mediapersons in Karnal today where he visited senior Congress leader, Mr. Tejender Pal Maan, whose wife, Mrs. Pushpa Maan and two of their relations who had recently been to Kedarnath on a pilgrimage, but did not return till date despite a search was conducted to locate them. Mr. Hooda consoled Mr. Maan and other members of his family and expressed his grief over the incident.
The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by Incharge Haryana Affairs and National General Secretary of Congress Mr. Shakil Ahmad, said that those affected in Uttrakhand would also be given financial assistance by the State Government. The Haryana government had been sending relief supplies in trucks and had also set up a helpline.
It was informed that the wife of Mr. Tejender Pal Maan, who was accompanied by her brother and sister-in-law had stayed in an inn near Kedarnath Temple on June 15 and no sooner did they began their return journey the next day, there was a cloud burst and thousands of pilgrims were reported missing. She was last contacted on the evening of June 16. The family members of Mr. Maan visited Uttrakhand and search for them, but all in vain.
Mr. Hooda was accompanied by MP Karnal Dr. Arvind Sharma, MLA Mrs. Sumita Singh, Mr. Zile Ram Sharma and Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Virender Singh.
