Basketball Championship: At the Girls District Basketball Championship held in Mohali, Shemrock's Under-14 and Under-19 girls' teams delivered an outstanding performance, securing Gold Medals in both categories. Congratulations to their mentor, Manoj.
Lawn Tennis Tournament: In the District Lawn Tennis Tournament held in Mohali, the school's Under-19 boys' team secured the Runner-Up position, finishing in second place. A special commendation to the team and their mentor, Sunil.
Chess Tournament: The school's Under-19 boys' team secured the Runner-Up position (2nd place) in the Zonal Inter-School Chess Tournament held in Mohali.
Yoga Tournament: The Under-14 girls' team secured the Runner-Up position (2nd place) in the Zonal Inter-School Yoga Tournament held in Mohali. We congratulate the students and their mentor, Mr. Vidhanshu.
Football League: Two students brought pride to the school in the Mini Master's Football League 2025. Ojas Batish played a key role in his team securing the Runner-Up position. Similarly, Aayan Sharma also helped his team become Runner-Up and won the 'Emerging Player of the Tournament' award for his exceptional performance.
LogIQids Olympiad: 68 Shemrock students qualified for the final stage of the LogIQids Mental Aptitude Olympiad and secured excellent ranks in the final test. The program is an initiative by IIT-IIM alumni.
Blaze to Chase – Season 2: Shemrock students participated with great enthusiasm in 'Blaze to Chase' at Paragon 71, Mohali, and secured a number of top positions, including the 'Eco Impact Award for Best Sustainable Innovation' and the First Position in various events. The school also proudly lifted the S. Iqbal Singh Shergil Memorial Running Trophy (Overall Champion). Congratulations to the students and their mentor, Ms. Ritika.
Chandigarh Kings and Capital Strikers Registered Second Consecutive Wins on the Day Two of CPL
Tigers opted to field first as Kings' skipper Shivam Bhambri (86 off 38 balls, 10 fours, 4 sixes) and opener Aarush Bhandari (58* off 31 balls, 4 fours, 4 sixes) ruled the stage with a scintillating 151-run stand for the first wicket. Bhambri's blistering stroke-play at a strike rate of 226.32 provided the perfect foundation while unbeaten Bhandari aptly supported his partner. A little nice cameo from Raman Bishnoi (18 off 4 balls) with three towering sixed helped Kings to post 169/2.
In reply, Talanoa Tigers made a spirited chase led by Abhishek Singh's explosive 49 off 17 balls including five sixes while Nehal Pajni's 37 off 19. However, disciplined bowling spells by Ishaan Garg (2/17) and Raman Bishnoi (2/15) put the brakes on runs flow at crucial stages. Despite a late surge, the Tigers were restricted to 137/6 in 12 overs, falling short by 32 runs.

Opting to bat first Strikers posted a competitive 140/5 with a sensational knock from Arjit Singh (63 off 33 balls, 2 fours, 5 sixes). Skipper Rajangad Bawa (19 off 11) provided valuable support in the middle overs. In reply, Panchkula Bashers made a strong chase with skipper Ankit Kaushik (39 off 23 balls) and Devang Kaushik (32 off 27 balls) giving them hope of a late surge. However, the match turned dramatically in the final over with Panchkula needing 13 runs to win. The first match MoM Jaskirat Singh Mehra delivered a stunning last over, picking three wickets (3/17) and dashing the hopes of the Bashers. .

UTCA invites Gully Cricket Players to witness CPL action
Chandigarh, August 29: The UT Cricket Association (UTCA) has extended a special invitation to the players of previous editions of the Gully Cricket Tournament to attend the ongoing Chandigarh Premier League (CPL) 2025. The initiative aims to inspire budding cricketers by giving them an opportunity to closely watch and learn from senior players showcasing their skills at the highest local level. UTCA is already inviting the budding players and students of the various schools to feel the mini version of the IPL in their own town.
Over the last few years, the Gully Cricket Tournament in association with Chandigarh Police has emerged as a vibrant platform for young talent across Chandigarh. Many promising cricketers have displayed exceptional potential and UTCA believes that exposure to CPL matches will further motivate these youngsters to pursue the sport with greater dedication.
The invited players will not only witness live matches but also observe the techniques, temperament and professionalism of senior cricketers participating in CPL. This step is part of UTCA's broader vision to strengthen the cricketing ecosystem in the city by bridging the gap between grassroots cricket and advanced competitive platforms.

Anveshika Physics Bharat Yatra Session organized at Govt College of Education
Dr A K Srivastva, Dean of the college formally welcomed the guests and inspired the students to get the maximum benefit from this session. Prof Sanjay Sharma explained the purpose of Anveshika Physics Bharat Yatra and highlighted how this brainchild of Padmashree Prof H C Verma was launched jointly at Srinagar in May 2025 by him and Shri Manoj Sinha, the LG of UT J & K with a purpose to share the joy of learning Physics with an aim of reaching the unreached throughout the country under the aegis of Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). Prof Sharma explained the role of Visualization in effective learning through various simple video animations and highlighted how such an approach has changed the way of learning science under the guidance of Prof H C Verma through a network of 28 Anveshika centres throughout the country.
Prof M S Marwaha presented his simple science demonstrations and explained how simple hands on activities bring liveliness, uniqueness and inspiration in science classrooms. Around 100 students of B Ed first semester and PGDGC attended the session. Sudents and faculty enjoyed the session very much. At the end of the program, Dr Sanjeev Kumar proposed the vote of thanks. The program was coordinated by Dr Sheojee Singh.
BCCI's Anti-Corruption Unit Brief Players Ahead of CPL, League set to Begin Today
The interactive session was conducted by officers from the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of BCCI who highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standards of integrity in cricket.
This briefing was given by Ravindra Doiphode and Rakesh Dixit. Both the officers were working in high positions in Mumbai Police and Delhi Police. Addressing the players, the officers outlined the potential risks posed by betting networks, bookies and external elements that attempt to influence the outcome of matches. They emphasized the need for constant vigilance and strict adherence to the code of conduct prescribed by the BCCI. They also reminded players about the dangers of sharing sensitive information whether knowingly or unknowingly through social media, phone calls or casual conversations.
The session included real-life case studies from domestic and international cricket to help players understand how corruption attempts can appear in subtle ways. The officers further encouraged open dialogue, urging participants to raise questions and seek clarity on any situation that could compromise their professional integrity.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Tandon, President, UTCA, said that while cricket is celebrated for its competitiveness and passion, it is equally important to safeguard its credibility. The guidance from the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit is invaluable in preparing our players to recognize threats and respond responsibly. At UTCA, we remain committed to promoting clean cricket and ensuring that every match is remembered for skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
On the opening day of the league, scheduled for Thursday, the first match will feature the Altruistrians taking on the Chandigarh Kings at 10:00 am followed by the second clash between Dr Morepen Dazzlers and Capitals Strikers at 2:15 pm.

Pitch Testing Held at Sector 16 Stadium ahead of CPL
Chandigarh, August 25, 2025:- In preparation for the highly anticipated Chandigarh Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA) scheduled a pitch testing session at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Monday. This crucial exercise is being undertaken to ensure that the playing surface is in prime condition ahead of the tournament opener on August 28.
The pitch testing involved assessment of soil hardness, grass cover, bounce and pace to align with BCCI's standards. Curators, ground staff, coaches and players evaluated outfield conditions and drainage systems to provide the best possible environment. The players led by UT team's captain Manan Vohra, underwent bowling and batting practice from both ends of the pitch as part of the testing.
UTCA's President Sanjay Tandon emphasized the importance of the exercise, stating that the stadium has always been central to Chandigarh's cricketing identity and the CPL will further showcase the city as a premier sports destination. He said that we are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the best playing conditions for cricketers and the best viewing experience for fans.
The CPL 2025 will feature six franchise-owned teams and promises to deliver 33 thrilling T20 matches including the semifinals and a grand finale on September 13. His Excellency, the Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria will be inaguaring the league on August 26.

Chandigarh, August 25, 2025:- The Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA) today announced that its coach Sandeep Arora has been selected to participate in the prestigious Hybrid Level-2 Coaches Course (Batch 27) being organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The Level-2 programme being coordinated by the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru will be adopting a hybrid model comprising three days of online sessions from September 1 to 3, 2025, followed by five days of onsite sessions from September 8 to 12, 2025 at the Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru.
