Chandigarh Kings and Capital Strikers Registered Second Consecutive Wins on the Day Two of CPL

Chandigarh, August 29, 2025:-Chandigarh Kings registered their second consecutive win by beating Talanoa TIgers by 32 runs at the ongoing Chandigarh Premier League (CPL) 2025 being organised by UT Cricket Association at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Friday. The encounter was reduced to 12 overs per side due to ground conditions.

Tigers opted to field first as Kings' skipper Shivam Bhambri (86 off 38 balls, 10 fours, 4 sixes) and opener Aarush Bhandari (58* off 31 balls, 4 fours, 4 sixes) ruled the stage with a scintillating 151-run stand for the first wicket. Bhambri's blistering stroke-play at a strike rate of 226.32 provided the perfect foundation while unbeaten Bhandari aptly supported his partner. A little nice cameo from Raman Bishnoi (18 off 4 balls) with three towering sixed helped Kings to post 169/2. 

In reply, Talanoa Tigers made a spirited chase led by Abhishek Singh's explosive 49 off 17 balls including five sixes while Nehal Pajni's 37 off 19. However, disciplined bowling spells by Ishaan Garg (2/17) and Raman Bishnoi (2/15) put the brakes on runs flow at crucial stages. Despite a late surge, the Tigers were restricted to 137/6 in 12 overs, falling short by 32 runs.

Later in the second match of the day, Capital Strikers held their nerves to register a narrow 8-run victory over Panchkula Bashers in a 17-over contest.

Opting to bat first Strikers posted a competitive 140/5  with a sensational knock from Arjit Singh (63 off 33 balls, 2 fours, 5 sixes). Skipper Rajangad Bawa (19 off 11) provided valuable support in the middle overs. In reply, Panchkula Bashers made a strong chase with skipper Ankit Kaushik (39 off 23 balls) and Devang Kaushik (32 off 27 balls) giving them hope of a late surge. However, the match turned dramatically in the final over with Panchkula needing 13 runs to win. The first match MoM Jaskirat Singh Mehra delivered a stunning last over, picking three wickets (3/17) and dashing the hopes of the Bashers. .

UTCA invites Gully Cricket Players to witness CPL action

Chandigarh, August 29: The UT Cricket Association (UTCA) has extended a special invitation to the players of previous editions of the Gully Cricket Tournament to attend the ongoing Chandigarh Premier League (CPL) 2025. The initiative aims to inspire budding cricketers by giving them an opportunity to closely watch and learn from senior players showcasing their skills at the highest local level. UTCA is already inviting the budding players and students of the various schools to feel the mini version of the IPL in their own town. 

Over the last few years, the Gully Cricket Tournament in association with Chandigarh Police has emerged as a vibrant platform for young talent across Chandigarh. Many promising cricketers have displayed exceptional potential and UTCA believes that exposure to CPL matches will further motivate these youngsters to pursue the sport with greater dedication.

The invited players will not only witness live matches but also observe the techniques, temperament and professionalism of senior cricketers participating in CPL. This step is part of UTCA's broader vision to strengthen the cricketing ecosystem in the city by bridging the gap between grassroots cricket and advanced competitive platforms.
