MCM College organize a Medicinal Herbs Plantation Drive

Chandigarh 19th November:- The Deptt. of Botany, MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized a Medicinal Herbs Plantation Drive in the college. Birendra Choudhary, IPS, Deputy Conservator of Forests and Member Secretary, Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Department of Forest, Chandigarh sponsored 210 seedlings of Medicinal Plants belonging to nine different genres.

This unique endeavour involved the foreign students besides B.Sc. Medical students in plantation of the seedlings. The students planted the seedlings in the Solar Green House and the Rishi Vatika of the college. Students of B.Sc. Medical also prepared creative and informative posters on Medicinal herbs and their uses. For the foreign students, this drive was an exceptional platform to learn about the Indian herbs and their medicinal uses and exchange the knowledge of the herbs of their respective countries with the native students.

Birendra Choudhary was all praises for the enthusiastic participation of the students and impressed upon them the significance of medicinal properties found in various plants.

Dr. Nisha Bhargava, the Principal of MCM, appreciated the endeavour and said that Medicinal Herbs have been a part of every Indian household always and shared with the students the utility of most commonly available herbs in Indian kitchens.
