Chandigarh 18th November:- In pursuance of sub rule (4) of rule 3 of the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and issue of National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003, the Central Government has decided to prepare and update the Population Register and the field work for house to house enumeration throughout the country for collection of information relating to all persons who are usually residing within the jurisdiction of Local Registrar shall be undertaken. The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Registrar, U.T., Chandigarh has appointed 576 Enumerators to conduct the census door to door in the whole Union Territory of Chandigarh w.e.f 15th September 2015 to 14th October 2015 which has been extended upto 30-11-2015.
Today the Deputy Commissioner U.T. Chandigarh Ajit Bala Joshi,in presence of Kashish Mittal, ADC , Danish Ashraf IAS, Joint Director Census, along with Head of Departments of Govt. Institutions assessed the progress of work regarding updation of NPR in which it has been observed that 1113 EBs have been updated on NPR portal (website) i.e 55.82% work has completed . However the updation work in rural area is going on and likely to be completed upto 30th November. It has also been decided to collect the information from institutions like working women hostels, hostels of school, colleges as well as hostels of boys and girls situated at Panjab University. The warden of all hostels and institutes have been instructed to provide the requisite information e.g Name, Father Name, Temporary Address, Permanent Address and Aadhaar Number to the Enumerators visiting in the institutes. All Enumerators have also been strictly advised to complete the work by end of November. The general public is hereby appealed from the administration to cooperate with Enumerators for Nation Cause.
