Fresher’s Party ‘Aagaman-24’ organized at GJIMT, Mohali

Mohali, Sept.30, 2024:-Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Phass 2 welcomed its fresher's under the theme 'Aagaman-19' a delight for the fresher's at its campus. The seniors' students welcomed their fresh inmates by offering them a grand gala cultural event. J.S.Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group presided over the event. The inaugural ceremony started by seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and lighting of the lamp. After the lamp lighting ceremony  J.S.Bedi, Chairman gave his blessings to the new students and welcomed them into the GJIMT family.

A series of stunning performances followed, with the Girl Gang delivering a powerful dance performance, followed by the electrifying Fearless Fusion and Aura Blenders, who captivated the audience with their seamless choreography and energy. A Dance Battle between competing teams added an extra layer of excitement to the festivities. One of the most anticipated highlights of the event was the UG/PG Fresher Ramp Walk, where students walked the ramp with confidence and style.

Bhavpreet Kaur from BCA was crowned as Ms. Fresher whereas Gurleen Singh from BCA was selected as Mr. Fresher in under graduation. Vanshika Soni from MBA was selected as Ms. Fresher & Pratham Kumar from MBA was selected as Mr. Fresher in Post-graduation stream.  Shivam Kumar BBA from UG  and Charles MBA from PG selected as  Mr. Handsome. Rupanpreet Kaur B.Com from UG and Daman MCA from PG capture the crown of  Ms. Elegant.

The ceremony saw many dazzling performances both by seniors and juniors by way of energetic dances that made the day more charming. Modeling rounds were there, where juniors suppressed their feelings and introduced themselves. Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director, Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology decoded Mr. Gian Jyoti and Ms. Gian Jyoti and encouraged the students to be participated during their journey at GJIMT. To develop their hidden talent this will help them in their professional career in the days ahead.

CGC Jhanjeri Campus Signs MoU with Westcliffe University USA Under the Guidance of MD Arsh Dhaliwal

Mohali, Sept. 30, 2024:-Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri Campus has entered into  agreement with Westcliff University, University of California, USA. Under the leadership of MD Arsh Dhaliwal of CGC Jhanjeri, this agreement signed in California will  be an important milestone in the expansion of educational directions in the global partnership of Jhanjeri campus. The MoU, signed by Managing Director Arsh Dhaliwal during his official visit to the US, reinforces the institution's mission to provide world-class educational opportunities to its students.

The agreement between Jhanjeri Campus and Westcliffe University will promote academic exchange, joint research projects, and innovative academic initiatives between the two campuses. This partnership unites two academic powerhouses—India and the United States—creating a dynamic environment of innovation, cross-cultural learning, and academic excellence converge. Apart from that ,students will benefit from exposure to cutting-edge research, new technologies, and diverse perspectives, preparing them for the evolving global job market. Along with this, a series of informative workshops, seminars and interactive sessions will be started jointly. These sessions are designed to empower students, faculty and staff with the necessary skills and insights to embark on their entrepreneurial journey.

Govt Schools Benefited under the Sports Kit Distribution Program

Chandigarh, Sept.30, 2024:-- Three school students were benefited as part of the sports kit distribution program themed 'Hanste Khelte' intailted by Competent Foundation led by politician and social worker Sanjay Tandon on Monday. The program is aimed to promote sports talent at the grassroots level along with school education. Sanjay Tandon visited Govt Girls Model Senior Secondary School Sector 20, Govt Model High School, Sector 7 and Govt Model High School, Indira Colony, Manimajra wherein he presented sports kits of Kabaddi and Kho Kho to those emerging players who are unable to bear the sports expenses due to financial constraints. Project Coordinator Umang Tandon was also present, who is trying to provide benefits to as many as emerging players under the aegis of this program. Hygiene kits were also gifted to school girls. 
Principals of the schools Bhupinder Pal and Bina Rani attended the programme and appreciated the efforts of the Foundation and hoped that these efforts would certainly prove fruitful.

UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria kicked off this campaign by distributing 175 sports kits among the children of various schools during the inauguration programme of the project held at PM Shri Govt Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18 on September 11. The kits include jerseys along with sports equipments. This campaign will benefit children of other schools in the coming days.

We’ll Fight for the Restoration of Old Pension Scheme: Sukhjit Singh

Chandigarh, September 30, 2024 :--Sukhjit Singh, State President of the CPF Employees Union, Punjab, and National Senior Vice President of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme, today, cautioning Haryana Government employees about the dangers of falling prey to false promises regarding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) by the Aam Aadmi Party leaders. He added that the union leaders who raised their voice to demand OPS and justice for the employees were put under house arrest by the state government. To add to their woes, and harass the employees they are transferred to remote areas and police force is also used to pressurize them. 

He also stated that more than 10 meetings, scheduled with the delegation led by union leaders, were deferred by the Chief Minister. The cabinet subcommittee constituted by the state government to address the issues of the employees, is mere killing time since they do not have the authority to address the grievances of the employees. 

The president claimed that wherever elections are announced in any of the states across the country, the AAP leaders start campaigning and misleading the voters by announcing to implement the old pension scheme after forming government, but in reality the party is stalling the same in the states where they are already in power.

Addressing the media persons, he said that in November 2022, the Chief Minister of Punjab announced the implementation of the OPS as a Diwali gift to government employees. However, despite squandering  crores of rupees in other states for party promotion and other unproductive activities, the OPS has yet to be restored in Punjab, as promised to the employees, who voted the party to power.

Sukhjit Singh, on behalf of more than 2 lakh employees of the Punjab, warned that Haryana Government employees should not be misled by similar promises from the AAP leaders. He urged them to learn from the experience of Punjab employees and vote wisely in the upcoming elections.

The president added that the promises that have not been fulfilled by the government include restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, restoration of Pay Scale, evoke Development Tax of Rs 200, full salary to newly recruits, implementation of the 6th Pay Commission and release of arrears for Dearness Allowance (DA).

Team Approach Treatment Reduces Time, Cost in Serious Cardiac Cases: Expert

Mohali, Sept.27, 2024:- The video assisted thoracoscopic surgeries (VATS) have an advantage of making thoracic surgery minimally invasive without compromising on outcome. VATS was usually performed through multiple ports but in patients with dense adhesions and complex locations many times accurate visibility was hindered making surgery difficult.
Dr. Deepak Puri, senior CTVS surgeon at Max Hospital Mohali said that the advent of uniportal VATS in the last decade has simplified thoracoscopic surgeries with several advantages.

He further said that we have modified the uniportal VATS technique further to facilitate complex thoracic surgeries, thus improving exposure and being less expensive. This technique further improved the direct visibility for surgeons by specially designed retractors and utilizing anterior as well as posterior approach for the surgeon through a single 3 to 4 cm incision which is later used for intercostal drains placement after completion of the procedure. 

He highlighted that this unique technique not only improves exposure for surgeons with direct visualization like an open thoracotomy. At the same time, it is less painful, less costly for patients facilitating complex procedures with reduced hospital stay and early return to normal activity. He further said that one of the most challenging critical situations is acute ischemic heart failure with cardiogenic shock along with multivessel disease not amenable to PCI.

He said that these patients usually arrive at odd hours and are usually loaded with antiplatelet medication. Many have ventricular arrhythmias, even cardiac arrest with ongoing CPR before being shifted to the operation room. Some even have frank pulmonary oedema with cardiac arrest refractory to CPR requiring open cardiac massage and few may even need to be put on cardiopulmonary bypass machine although a quick off pump revascularization reduces the post revascularization complications like difficult weaning from pump, high inotropes, renal failure and low cardiac output in such patients.
We have also done a comparative analysis of management of such critical patients along with case reviews of a few of the most challenging cases to show the comparative improvement in the short- and long-term outcome of such patients in the last decade.

He added that these patients managed by a comprehensive team approach in the last decade showed less conversion to pump, less mechanical complications, less IABP dependence and less inotropic requirement. Moreover, ICU stay, hospital stay, and mortality was significantly reduced. Incidence of recurrent disease needing repeat percutaneous or surgical re-interventions was also drastically reduced because of meticulous team approach.

Nivedita Trust and Punjab University Commemorate 300th Birth Anniversary of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar

Chandigarh, Sept.26, 2024:– The Nivedita Trust, in collaboration with Panjab University, organized a grand program to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, the revered social reformer and visionary ruler. The event took place at Panjab University, and it was graced by distinguished personalities, including Bollywood playback and classical singer Dr. Jaspinder Narula as the Chief Guest, and Pradeep Joshi, an eminent thinker and social transformer, who delivered the keynote address. The program was presided over by Dr. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University.

The event drew participation from eminent women professionals from the Tricity region, with a special focus on celebrating women achievers. T20 Chandigarh Deaf Premier League 2024 Postponed Due to Massive Rain

Chandigarh, Sept. 26, 2024:-The two-day first T20 Chandigarh Deaf Premier League 2024, which was scheduled to start from September 26 has been postponed due to massive rains and wet grounds. The league was to be held at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36 and Mahajan Cricket Ground, IT Park as players from all over the country were to participate. The organiser and Manish Jain, President,  Chandigarh Association of the Deaf Chandigarh, said  players from Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Mumbai were to play under four teams - Manish Lions, Umar Tigers, Rajat Alligators and Ankush Eagle.

MG Motor Announces Prices for Newly Launched MG Windsor

Chandigarh, Sept. 25, 2024:- JSW MG Motor India today announced the prices for the recently launched MG Windsor, starting at INR 13,49,800 (Ex-Showroom). India's 1st Intelligent CUV combines the comfort of a sedan and the expanse of an SUV offering a luxurious business-class experience to customers.

 

The CUV is offered with futuristic aerodynamic design, spacious and opulent interiors, reassuring safety, smart connectivity, driving comfort, and many hi-tech features. In addition, customers are ensured complete peace of mind through various initiatives such as a lifetime warranty on the battery for the first owner, assured 60% buyback after three years, and one-year free charging at public chargers using the eHUB by MG app. The Windsor will be available in four colour options: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

Run for Heart Health on World Heart Day - Sep 29

Chandigarh, Sept. 25, 2024:-In view of health-related issues assuming a critical proportion worldwide including India, a 5-km long 'Run for Heart Health' will be organized by Grecian Park Hospital in Mohali on Sunday, September 29, 2024, which is being celebrated as World Heart Day.

Dr Harinder Singh Bedi, Director, Cardiac Sciences, Park Grecian Hospital and Dr. Neeraj Bhargava, Lab Director & Additional Medical Superintendent, Park Grecian Hospital held a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club here to share details of the pertinent activity being organised on the occasion of World Heart Day. A poster of the upcoming run was also unveiled at the press conference. 

Dr Bedi said that the run is aimed at creating awareness about heart diseases, especially their prevention. People should know how physical activities help keep our hearts healthy. For a good heart, one needs to manage stress, control BP, maintain ideal weight, have a sensible diet and do regular yoga.

The event is in sync with the theme of 'Use Heart for Action' supporting individuals to care for their hearts and take cardiovascular health seriously.

Dr Bedi added that the run assumes significance due to the alarming situation related to heart health mainly among younger Indians. Every minute, four people die of a heart attack in India and the age group affected is usually 30 to 50 years. It is unfortunate indeed that according to the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, 25 percent of heart attack deaths in India occur in people below 40 years of age. This has been highlighted in recent times by well-known media and social site personalities being attacked by the disease.

While explaining the run's route Ashok Bedwal, CEO, Park Grecian Hospital, Mohali said that the 5-Km run would start at 5.30 am from Grecian Park Hospital, Sector 69, Mohali. The participants will make a U-Turn from DBU Chowk and will finish the run at its point of origination – Park Grecian Hospital by 8.30 am. As many as 700 Prominent citizens of tricity, doctors, women, children and health enthusiasts are expected to take part in the run.

Dr Bedi informed that the run would be flagged off by Chief Guest Major General Mathews Jacob, VSM, Commandant, Command Hospital Western Command, Chandimandir, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali, Ms Aashika Jain(IAS); Mr Deepak Pareek(IPS), SSP, Mohali, and others.

Reflecting on the significance of running and its impact on the heart health, Dr Neeraj Bhargava, who is also an experienced marathon runner, said, "Daily running offers numerous benefits for heart health including improved cardiovascular fitness, strengthening of heart muscle, enhances the heart's efficiency in pumping blood, and even lowers blood pressure."

Dr Bhargava further said that running also increases the level of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol – good cholesterol – and lowers triglycerides. He said that at the same time, running also helps burn calories, which can aid in maintaining a healthy weight, and reducing the risk of heart disease.

In conclusion Dr Bedi said that the global theme of World Heart Day – Action for Heart Health - highlights a shift from awareness to empowerment with a clear purpose and goal. There is also the two-way nature of action: efforts to influence policies and advocate for behaviour change and physical activity.
