Mohali, Jan.13, 2025:-Ashmah International School, Sector 70 Mohali celebrated Lohri at the school campus, where a huge bonfire was lit, later the celebration was followed by a colorful function to make it memorable , where children also get opportunity to showcase their talents in unique manner . The celebration commenced after lighten the bonfire by J.S. Kesar (I.A.S. Retd.) Director, Ashmah International School. Students and staff encircled around the bonfire, Groundnuts and Reweri were also distributed to everyone present there and gave it a traditional look.
While highlighting the importance of the festival, Director of the school, J.S. Kesar (I.A.S. Retd.)Said that it is an auspicious day, which marked the culmination of winter and was a symbol of fertility. He further added that Lohri is a grand event of social and cultural integration, bringing about unity, amity, harmony among all castes and community. While celebrating this festival people from all castes and social strata come together forgetting all differences and grievances.He later, applauded the students and staff & encouraged that Lohri should be celebrated especially for girl also unlike in the past when it was celebrated for baby boy born in the family, but not for girls.

The occasion brought together students, staff, and management in a colorful display of cultural pride, unity, and reverence for this cherished tradition.
Lohri, a festival of gratitude and renewal, honors the hard work of farmers and the abundance of harvests. Symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, the festival is steeped in values of thankfulness, prosperity, and togetherness. This spirit was beautifully reflected at CGC Jhanjeri, where the campus transformed into a hub of traditional joy and cultural expression.
The celebrations began with electrifying folk performances featuring Punjabi songs, bhangra, and gidda, filling the air with energy and excitement. The beats of the dhol resonated across the campus, inviting everyone to join the rhythm of the festivities. A sacred bonfire, the symbolic heart of Lohri, was lit with prayers for a prosperous year ahead, uniting everyone in a shared moment of hope and blessings.
Adding to the vibrancy of the event, awards were presented to honor the spirit of tradition and celebration. Titles such as Best Traditional Gabru, Best Traditional Queen, and Best Dressed were awarded to the most elegantly attired participants, showcasing the cultural essence of the day. Chandigarh, Jan.13, 2025:-The Chandigarh Polo Club (CPC) clinched a spectacular victory in the third and final round of the exhibition polo match series at the Maghi Mela (Sri Muktsar Sahib) defeating Col Warraich Warriors 4-3 in a nail-biting finish. The three polo exhibition match series was part of the Punjab Horse Show, showcased exceptional sportsmanship and drew an impressive crowd of polo and horse enthusiasts to celebrate the sport's introduction to Punjab's Malwa region.
Dilpreet Singh Sidhu led CPC to victory, scoring two crucial goals, while his teammates Jitender Singh and Amaan Warring contributed a goal each. From the opposing side, Col Tarsem Warraich impressed with two goals, and Bhanu Partap Godara added a third to keep the match closely contested.
The event was graced by prominent personalities,including Member of Parliament Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Inspector General Mandeep Singh (IPS), Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Gurdit. and veteran horseman of the region Rahul Sidhu.
CPC's President Dilpreet Singh Sidhu expressed his delight at the success of the series and outlined ambitious plans to elevate the event. Teachers actively participated in the workshop, which was led by expert resource persons Vega Sharma, Dr. Seema Singh, Jasmeet Kaur, and Neetika Mehta, gaining insights into creating a better and more inclusive future for students.

Shemrock School organizes Stem Education Workshop
Mohali, Jan.10, 2025:-Shemrock Senior secondary School, Sector 69 organized the Stem education workshop at its campus.Stem education is already implemented across more than 112 countries. Stem is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. These areas together are essential for student success. These fields are deeply intertwined in the real world. Stem is an interdisciplinary and applied approach which is coupled with hands-on, problem-based learning.
The training program, attended by 50 teachers from various disciplines, was designed to transform traditional pedagogical approaches. Led by Ms. Ritika Khurana an expert facilitator in STEM education, the sessions focused on experiential learning, interdisciplinary teaching strategies, and the use of technology to inspire innovation.
Highlights of the program included hands-on interactive activities, designing prototypes encouraging educators to create a dynamic and engaging classroom environment. Teachers worked in teams to design and present STEM lesson plans, fostering a culture of collaboration and creativity. Stem programme promotes using mostly recyclable material, students construct models such as gliders, submarines, hovercrafts, balloon car, catapult, bio-batteries and parachutes, as a part of their science classes in school. The level of difficulty progresses with each class, as per syllabus, from catapults, aero-modelling, contraption building, to robotic programming.
While speaking at the moment Principal Parneet Sohal said that science and technology from a young age and to develop inclination towards these subjects using inquiry methods and to develop problem solving skills. This programme helps to draw real world connections to the workforce and community. Stem projects also provide self-directed, challenge-based learning rather than simply absorbing and regurgitating facts.

Chandigarh, Jan.10, 2025:-UT girls suffered a two wicket defeat against Vidarbha at the ongoing Women's Under 19 ODI tournament being played at Surat, Chandigarh while opting to bat first was bundled out for mere 160 runs in 49 overs wherein Deepti Walia scored 49 and Taisha Manchanda and skipper Gulnaz added 30 and 24 runs respectively. In reply, Vidarbha, which lost half of its team for 106 runs, was powered by Dharavi (46) who brought her team closer to target. Team surpassed the target at the loss of eight wickets in 42nd over. Opener Aaruhi scored 40 runs. Jais, Aahan Vaid and took two wickets each.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh faced another defeat in the Women's Under 23 T20 tournament when Delhi outclassed Chandigarh by 34 runs. Batting first, Delhi made 131/7 runs with the decent contributions from Monika (29) and Mansi (25). In reply, Chandigarh collapsed at 97 in 19.5 overs as Sarah (45) emerged as the top scorer.

Every week, Lord Remo presents thrilling challenges for the contestants. Vartika & Sanchit from Super Dancer performed on the song 'Sun Sathiya' from the movie 'ABCD 2', and an impressed Remo revealed that this is one of his favourite songs. He praised the duo by saying that this is one of his favourite songs, and we shot this song in half a day. There were only 5 cuts, and he told Shraddha that for all these shots, we wouldn't go back or close, we would only be taking long shots. But hats off to Shraddha, for giving it her all. And today, Vartika and Sanchit brought a different feel to this song, and he really like it when there aren't any cuts because that's when you know how good a performer is. Some of India's best dancers are sitting here, and when Vartika and Sanchit came together to perform on 'Sun Sathiya', he knew they'd do something after which he would forget his version of 'Sun Sathiya', and he actually forgot it. It was outstanding.
Next, from Team India's Best Dancer, Saumya & Shivanshu performed on 'Ghar More Pardesiya' from the movie 'Kalank,' and Remo complimented their performance. He said that this song is from the movie 'Kalank,' and he on the first 'Filmfare Award for this song. Before this, he had done so many other songs and had received other awards, but not this one. He got it from this song. When you are a choreographer, you dream about winning a Filmfare, and if that happens, that's it. When people hear his name, Remo D'Souza, they associate him with western styles of dance, but they don't think that he can do Indian. But he will give credit to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He was the one person who let him do Indian songs in his movie, and through which people got to know that he can do Indian songs well. He got to work in 'Kalank.' Today, what these contestants did with this song was outstanding.
Celebrity Cricket League 2025 to kick off on January 31 with Punjab De Sher leading the charge, Mohali to host two matches
Addressing at a press conference, Punjab De Sher's co-owners Puneet Singh and Navraj Hans along with the team management, shared their enthusiasm for the upcoming season. Representing Punjab since 2016, Punjab De Sher will once again take center stage in the league, competing in four league matches within their group. Mohali would be hosting two matches of the CCL on Feb 15 and 16.
The team will be captained by celebrated actor and social worker Sonu Sood, joined by an impressive lineup of Pollywood stars including Binnu Dhillon, Aparshakti Khurana, Navraj Hans, Gurpreet Guggi, Hardy Sandhu, Babbal Rai, Jassi Gill, Ninja, Dev Kharod, Manmeet Singh (meet brothers), Suyyas Rai, Karan Wahi, Daksh Ajit Singh, Gavie Chahal, Mayur Mehta, Anuj Khurana and Rahul Jaitly.
