Placement Week at Indo Global Collages:14 Multinational Companies Select 61 Students

Mohali 26^th November:-- 61 canditates selected with salary & perquisites ranging from Rs. 2 lacs to Rs. 3.5 lacs per annum during a Placement week at Indo Global Colleges. During this week total 14 multinational companies came in the campus for placement drive. The placements were mostly for the final year students of B.Tech Mechanical and Civil Engineering streams. As these students are scheduled to go on their industrial training in the ensuing semester, these confirmed placements are a big morale booster to them.  The selection process for almost all the companies comprised of group discussions followed by technical and HR interviews after a brief pre placement talk to all the participants elucidating their job profile, company profile, career graph and salary packages. Some of the companies also conducted a written test first.  

Sukhdev Kumar Singla, Chairman of Indo Global Colleges congratulated the successful students, urging them to work hard and live by values and ethics that has been imbibed into them by their parents and institutions as they progress ahead on their career.

 

District Legal Services Authority, Mohali Celebrates National Law Day

Mohali 26^th November:--District Legal Services Authority, Mohali today celebrated National Law Day in Shivalik Public School, Mohali.  A seminar was organised in pursuance to directions of National Legal Services Authority of India.  Jagroop Singh Mahal, Chairman of Permanent Lok Adalat Mohali and Tarntaran Singh Bindra, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Mohali mainly addressed the gathering.  District Education officer namely Mewa Singh made special efforts for organising this seminar.  Besides Principals of all Government Schools of District Mohali, this seminar was attended by In-charges of Legal Literacy Clubs, being run in these schools under the guidance of District Legal Services Authority, Mohali.  Senior Citizens, Advocates and students also participated in this seminar. 

Jagroop Singh Mahal, spoke about the various aspects, schemes and functioning of Permanent Lok Adalats.  He requested the public and audience to avail services of Permanent Lok Adalats.  Tarntaran Singh Bindra told gathering the importance of National Law Day.  He paid tribute to unique vision of framers of Constitution of India.  He further told that special provisions have been incorporated in the Constitution for the uplift of weaker section of society including women and children.  He also made public aware about the various schemes of Legal Services Authorities, operating in entire country.  As most of the gathering was belonging to education fraternity, the stress was also given to constitution, working and reporting of Legal Literacy Clubs as Principal and other teachers were having some queries in this regard.

Harbhajan Singh Chopra, Secretary (Finance) of Mohali Senior Citizens Association and Advocate Getanjali Bali disclosed some of the problems, being faced by them while implementing the schemes of Legal Services Authority.  District Education Officer assured full cooperation from him and all school teachers, in future.  On this occasion, prizes were also given to students who were the winners of Poster Making Competition, organised by District Legal Services Authority, Mohali in Bal Bhavan, Mohali on Children's Day (14.11.2013).  Parminder Singh Toor, Advocate, President of Bar Association, Mohali, who had come with his team including Secretary of Bar, Mr. Sarao, took keen interest in understanding all schemes. He assured his full cooperation to Legal Services Authority in achieving its goal.  In the end, Deputy District Education Officer extended vote of thanks to all the participant.

Lecture On Healthy Skin At MCM

Chandigarh 26^th November:---The Medical Committee MCM college organized a lecture on Healthy Skin by Dr. Monika Mittal, Dermatologist and cosmetologist. The lecture provided informative insights about skin care. Dr Monika informed the students that skin treatment does not mean skin care only but also includes hair care as well as nail care. She contradicted the common notion that home remedies are safe and advised the students to go in for treatments according to one's age. Giving tips for healthy skin, Dr. Monika Mittal stressed on the importance of balanced diet, adequate water intake, avoidance of caffeine, alcohol and smoking and a relaxed mind for a healthy and glowing skin. She also made the student aware of the various techniques available these days for healthy skin like derma glow, skin renewal, face lift, derma fillers etc. The students put up their skin related queries before the doctor who offered various solutions for them. Principal of the college Dr. Puneet Bedi commended the spirited participation and lauded the endeavour of the committee.

Mohali 25^th November:-- ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਾ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਗਰ  ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੰਡੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦੀ 162 ਕਰੋੜ 39 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਡੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ 1 ਲੱਖ 28 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ 335 ਮੀਟਰੀਕ ਟਨ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ । ਇਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੰਡੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਮੰਡੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਰੰਤੂ ਜੇਕਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਮੰਡੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੋਨਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਖਰੀਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ  ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੰਡੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਲਿਫਟਿੰਗ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਵੀ 100ਫੀ ਸਦੀ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਪਨਗਰੇਨ ਨੇ 42094 ਮੀਟਰੀਕ ਟਨ ਝੇਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ 56 ਲੱਖ 35 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਰਕਫੈੱਡ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ 'ਚ 24766 ਮੀਟਰੀਕ ਟਨ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਕਰਕੇ 33 ਲੱਖ 20 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਕੀਤੀ,  ਪਨਸਪ ਨੇ 24333 ਮੀਟਰੀਕ ਟਨ ਝੇਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਕਰਕੇ 31 ਲੱਖ 35 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ , ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਟੇਟ ਵੇਅਰ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸਨ ਨੇ 11258 ਮੀਟਰੀਕ ਟਨ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਕਰਕੇ 14 ਲੱਖ  50 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਐਗਰੋ ਨੇ 10278 ਮੀਟਰੀਕ ਟਨ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਕਰਕੇ 13 ਲੱਖ 79 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ, ਐਫ.ਸੀ.ਆਈ.ਨੇ 12794 ਮੀਟਰੀਕ ਟਨ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਕਰਕੇ 13 ਲੱਖ 20 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਪਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ 2812 ਮੀਟਰੀਕ ਟਨ ਝੇਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਕੀਤੀ । ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ 96.2 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਦਾਇਤਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।

 

BRITISH SCHOOL, CHANDIGARH HOLD ITS 5TH ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

Chandigarh 25^th November:--- The British School, Chandigarh organised Annual Sports Day today at the lush green field of the school's Sec 44 campus. Kamlesh Kumar, DPI (Schools), Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. As many as 550 students of the school took part in it.

The Annual sports day saw some very colorful drills & dances presented by the young students. Prominent among these were: Aerobics Drill, Ribbon Dance, Umbrella Drill and a Dumb bell exercise. Young athletes took part in track & field events which included sprints and hurdle races. For the tiny tots fun events like sack races etc. were organized. Toddlers from Tinkerbells(pre Kindergarten), Foundationb Years (Kindergarten) and Key Stage(primary to senior classes -- Ist to Xth) were part of the energetic sporting activity today. A scintillating Pyramid formation provided the icing on the cake as the event was wrapped up by singing of the school anthem.  Aqib Lateef Wani, was adjudged school all-rounder and the Best athlete award went to Kuldeep Singh who is also the school sports captain.

According to Ms.Mona Sethi, Principal, that the idea of our school is to develop students' a spirit of participation and more importantly sportsmanship. Though the environment was charged up with competition as 40 medals that were up for grabs, the idea was to make students adopt exercise and sports as part of their daily regimen and help them simply have a good sporty day out.

 

 

PGI, Dermatologist Gets 1st Prize For Her Study At The International Dermatopathology Conference

Chandigarh 25^th November:--- Dr Geeti Khullar, Senior Resident in the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology PGI, Chandigarh was awarded first prize for her study on 'Spectrum of predisposing factors in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC): a tertiary center experience', at the International Dermatopathology Conference – 2013 held in Jaipur from 15th- 17th November.

This study was conducted under the guidance of Dr Uma Nahar Saikia and Dr Bishan Dass Radotra from the Department of Histopathology and Dr Sanjeev Handa and Dr Dipankar De from the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology, PGI, Chandigarh. Squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer, is quite common in white population in the West. Her study suggests that this entity is uncommon in this part of the world. Several common skin diseases and post-burn scars may predispose to development of this type of skin cancers. Awareness in part of the patients and their caregivers is of utmost importance for its early diagnosis and prompt management.

 

Workshop on Paper Making & Jute Bags Held at Maharishi Dayanand Public School

Chandigarh 25^th November:--- Maharishi Dayanand Public School, Daria Chandigarh organized a workshop on making paper and jute bags in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration. About 80 students participated in this activity. Art and craft teacher Kiran Prabha taught the students how to make paper and jute bags. The students were told that these bags are biodegradable and environment friendly. It does not emit toxic gases and harmful chemicals. It makes durable and strong packaging. Principal, vinod kumar told that the aim of this workshop was to train students for making paper and jute bags. He praised the students for participating in the environmental activities.

 

 

Arshee Khosla of PU Sets To Represent in National Inter-University Youth Fest

Chandigarh 25^th November:--- Arshee Khosla, a student of Department of Economics, Panjab University, Chandigarh is all set to represent PU at the National Inter-University Youth Festival 2013-14 in Debate Competition, to be held at Kurukshetra University. This is the second consecutive time that she has qualified for the National-level inter-university debate. She had won the Gold Medal at the 28th National Inter-University Youth Festival 2012-13 in Debate (West Bengal). She also stood Second at the 29th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival 2013-14 (Lucknow), First at Inter-Zonal Youth Festival 2013-14 (Khanna) and Second at Zonal Youth Festival 2013-14 (Chandigarh).

 

61st National Conference of Anatomical Society of India Concludes at PGI

Chandigarh 25^th November:--- Department of Anatomy, PGI, Chandigarh organized the 61st National Conference of Anatomical Society of India (NATCON 61) held from 22nd to 25th November at PGI, Chandigarh. The event was attended by more than 1000 national and international anatomists. Mrs Narbada Saini, PHD student, Department of Anatomy, PGIMER, Chandigarh was awarded with Dr Raikrushna Mohanti Memorial gold medal of Anatomical society of India for her paper presentation on histology which was done under the guidance of Dr Daisy Sahni, Dr Uma Nahar Saikia and Dr Rana Sandip Singh, Faculty, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The conference concluded as a great scientific feast for all the delegates. It was highly organized affair as applauded during the Valedictory ceremony by the attendees

ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਚਾਲੂ ਮਾਲੀ ਸਾਲ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ 890 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਨੂੰ 400 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਲਘੂ ਤੇ ਸੂਖਮ ਉਦਯੋਗਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ 312 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਤਰਜੀਹੀ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰਾਂ-ਆੜਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਡੈਟ ਸਵੈਪ ਸਕੀਮ ਅਧੀਨ 1 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਕਰਜਾ ਘੱਟ ਵਿਆਜ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ।  ਬੈਂਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਡੈਟ ਸਵੈਪ ਸਕੀਮ ਅਧੀਨ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪਿੰਡ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਕੈਂਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਇਸ ਕਰਜੇ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਲੈ ਸਕਣ। ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਚੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਯੋਗ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਰਜਾ ਵੀ ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਕਰਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਜ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੜਚਨਾਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਾ  ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ। ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਦਾਇਤਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਗੈਸ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਸਿਲੰਡਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਬ ਸਿਡੀ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਤੋਰ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਾਤਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ 01 ਫਰਵਰੀ 2014 ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬੈਂਕ ਅਧਾਰ ਨੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੈਂਕ ਖਾਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨ ਲਈ ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਮੋਕੇ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਕਰਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਜਨਰਲ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਬੈਂਕ ਡੀ. ਕੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਜੀਹੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਜੇ ਦੇ ਟੀਚੇ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਕਰਨੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਜੀਹੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਜੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਣ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਸੁਵਿਧਾ ਟਰਾਂਸਫਰ ਸਕੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਜੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਧੀਕ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ (ਵਿਕਾਸ) ਪੁਨਿਤ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ  ਕਿ ਸੈਲਫ ਹੈਲਪ ਗਰੁੱਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੱਟ ਵਿਆਜ ਅਤੇ ਸਬ-ਸਿਡੀ ਤੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ । ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੈਲਫ ਹੈਲਪ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸਵੈ ਰੋਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਲੀਡ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਰਿਜਰਵ ਬੈਂਕ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੇਤੀ ਬਾੜੀ ਕਰਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਕੀਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਜੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
