GJIMT Students Collect and Recycle 438 kg of Plastic Waste

Mohali, February 01, 2026:-Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Phase 2, Mohali has achieved a major milestone in environmental conservation by securing the second position in the third phase of 'Project D.R.O.P.' (Developing Responsible Outlook towards Plastic). The project was organized by the Indian Pollution Control Association in collaboration with Kia India Pvt. Ltd. The achievement was announced during a special ceremony held at Park Plaza, Zirakpur.

Under this initiative, students and staff of the institute collectively gathered 438 kg of plastic waste from the campus and surrounding areas. This waste was properly segregated and sent for recycling, marking a significant step toward a 'Circular Economy.'

Chairman J.S. Bedi lauded the students, stated that our goal is not just to grant degrees, but to nurture citizens who understand their responsibility toward society and nature.

Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director of the Campus, attributed this victory to the hard work of the students, noting that Project D.R.O.P. has fostered a new culture of environmental stewardship on campus.

Furthermore, the project's success led to the institute's Project Head, Ms. Bhavanpreet, being invited to speak at a national-level panel discussion. She shared insights with experts on modern methods of plastic management in urban administration.
