Chandigarh, Sept. 21, 2025:-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chandigarh today organized a program at its Sector 39 office to honor councillors, party volunteers, and residents of Chandigarh who actively contributed to relief and rescue efforts during the recent floods in Punjab.
Party spokesperson Yogesh Dhingra stated that the situation in Punjab is extremely dire and could worsen in the coming days. He appealed to all citizens, councillors, and party workers in Chandigarh to actively participate in relief efforts. He also announced that a team of doctors will soon be deployed to prevent waterborne diseases.
On this occasion, the AAP Youth Vice President from Fazilka and their team were felicitated by AAP General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh. He noted that the team not only distributed relief materials in the flood-affected areas but also ensured the safety of stranded people and attended to basic health needs. Omkar Singh praised their dedication, discipline, and commitment to public service, emphasizing that such efforts strengthen AAP's core principle of serving the people. He urged all present party workers to continue participating in relief efforts with the same enthusiasm and dedication in the future.
AAP President Vijaypal Singh called upon all members to prepare at war-footing and announced the formation of a special team comprising General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh, Treasurer J.D. Ghai, and Media Incharge Vikrant A. Tanwar. This team will oversee all preparations under the direct supervision of the President.
Vijaypal Singh also criticized the deteriorating condition of Chandigarh's roads. He said that despite funds being allocated, the BJP has only resorted to patchwork, which collapses within days. He declared that AAP will organize daily protests in every ward against the BJP Mayor.
He further stated that recently, the Mayor expelled AAP councillors from the council because they raised demands not only for V3 roads but also for the construction of link roads reaching people's homes. This, he said, is an insult not only to elected representatives but to the citizens of Chandigarh as a whole.
In this context, a one-day hunger strike and effigy burning of the Mayor was conducted today in Ramdarbar Phase-2. A large number of local residents participated in the protest. The event was led by AAP SC Wing Vice President Vijay, with Ward President Harjinder Singh Bawa and several local party workers in attendance.
The program was attended by councillors Damanpreet, Munavvar, Anju Katiyal, Hardeep, Ramchander Yadav, along with party spokesperson Yogesh Dhingra, General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh, Shadab Rathi, Harjinder Singh Bawa, Treasurer J.D. Ghai, Disciplinary Committee Convener P.P. Ghai, Event Incharge Lalit Mohan, and Media Incharge Vikrant A. Tanwar.
