The poster and video related to the 'Ek Kadam Aasha Ka' free prosthetic legs camp was unveiled at Chandigarh Press Club today. The camp will be held at Chandigarh University, Gharuan on May 14-15, 2022 under the aegis of Rotary Club Chandigarh Central (RCCC) and Rotary Club of New Kalyan, Thane, Maharashtra.
The poster was unveiled by Rtn RS Cheema, Rtn RD Singh Riar, Rtn N S Aulakh, Rtn Harish Gupta, Rtn Jagdish Bansal, Rtn Ved Parkash, Rtn Vebhu Bhatnagar and other members of the RCCC.
Rtn Ashish Midha, President, RCCC, announced that after the camp for prosthetic legs a smart resource centre shall be established by the RCCC for the specially abled children at a Government School Manimajra.
He said that the camp shall be held in two phases. In the first phase, it will be held at Chandigarh University on 14-15 May, 2022 to get the measurements of legs to prepare a mold. The molds will be sent to Rotary Divyang Centre, Kalyan, Maharashtra, which has a state-of-the-art equipment to manufacture the prosthetic legs. The prosthetic legs will be fitted to the prospective recipients during the second phase of the camp in June 2022. The exact dates shall be announced during the camp on 14-15 May.
Earlier the RCCC had held a camp in November 2021 to distribute LN4 hands to 1340 beneficiaries. After its success the RCCC decided to hold a camp for prosthetic legs and also do something for children with intellectual disabilities.
The prospective beneficiaries have to provide their name, father's name, address, mobile number, Aadhar card and photograph giving a clear view of the amputated leg. The prosthetic legs shall be provided to about 100 beneficiaries on first come first serve basis. For registration call on 9780812571, 9780812572, 978081258.
The theme of Rotary International for this year is 'Serve to Change Lives'. It is under this theme that Rotary Club Chandigarh Central has decided to serve the specially abled population in a big way.
