Chandigarh Sept. 06, 2021:- Narcotics Control Bureau, Chandigarh Zonal Unit has started a special drive to bust the drug syndicates operating in Punjab and other neighbouring states from 20 Aug – 30 Sep. 2021.
On 05.09.2021, a specific input was provided regarding trafficking of huge consignment of Charas from Kullu (HP) to Moga & Nabha (Punjab). On the basis of information NCB personnel of Chandigarh Zonal Unit laid Naka at Tax Barrier Ghanauli, District Roopnagar, Punjab and tried to intercept a white colour Tata Indigo car bearing No. PB-11-AR-3761 at Tax Barrier, Ghanauli.While intercepting, the driver hit the Barrier and tried to escape but was apprehended later on. Thorough search of the vehicle was carried out which resulted in seizure of 8.950 Kgs. Charas. Vehicle was seized and one person Surinder Kumar S/o Prem Chand resident of Circle Road, Ajit Nagar, Nabha, Patiala, Punjab was arrested in the case.
The arrested person Surinder Kumar revealed that some parts of the consignment to be further supplied in Moga, Punjab. Further on follow up, NCB Team arrested one more person Balwinder Singh S/o Amar resident of Moga, Punjab. House search of Balwinder Singh was carried out and 02 Grams of Heroin was seized from his house.
It was revealed by Surinder Kumar and Balwinder Singh that said drug consignment was given to them by one notorious Kullu, HP based drug smuggler who has been running an inter state drug syndicate between Himachal Pradesh and Punjab since long.
Further investigation is underway.
